Diggin that Pete, Tekkaman! :clap I'm stil on the fence with Venkman to get. :gah

Here's some samples of the pads painted up. The rest of my GB gear should be arriving today so I'll shoot for getting some mock-ups done this weekend.

Also the elastic I recommend using. Has the right look to it just needs to be dyed/painted.

I keep popping in now and then to offer false hopes for my pads. That hope is still there once my life slows down haha.

I am willing though to part with my master if anyone is interested in casting them for the community! I simply just cant find the time anymore to do the things I love but I still want those who have been asking to have them. If anyone is seriously interested please PM me. I will send the mold free of charge granted your intent is to offer them up to the community :)

I really like this sculpt, and your paint up is really nice. Just wanted to chime and say that. I also wanted to note that this version on Venkman looks like it was drawn by Mike Mignola. Anyone else think that? Can't wait to see the others painted up. :clap

Been working on my venkman over christmas inbetween too much food and tv.
Not the best as it is a recasted sculpt and was full of holes and sucked up paint like a sponge, because of the poor quality plaster/resin.
Not finished, but thought the original sculpt should get some love, as it is a really good likeness.

While I don't plan on using them, I think the color on the Mattel ones is pretty good. I suppose it could be a little darker, but seeing it in-hand next to the Soldier Story jumpsuit they really got the color right.

That said, I got my mattel stuff in today. Shame that's what passes for adult collectible in their minds. Can't say its too surprising though. Their $70 dollar barbies look exactly the same as the $6 barbies. At least the majority of the gear is decent, but I think these headsculpts should be condemned.

I'm on the fence about dyeing my mattel jumpsuit.
Think it is pretty good as it is and will dirty it up, but it's personal choice.
Was'nt these ghostbusters based on the cartoon versions of the ghostbusters though and if so the likeness is not that bad?

No they were based on the movies that's why they made part 1 and part 2 figures its just Matty being Matty over priced junk

The Mego-styled ones they did were based off the toon and the likenesses are on par with how they appeared in the show. Shame they didn't make those in 6-inch plastic form. Those I would've bought, but not Megos.

But the 12" guys are suppsed to based off the films and the actors. But the overall caricature appearance is horrible, imo. All the effort definitely went into the Proton Pack, the trap, and PKE meter.

Ahh well thats a shame, as they did do a good job mostly, on the rest of the figure.
Maybe with a repaint the heads could be used, but the stanz looks weird with his quiff and squint. Venkmans a bit too chunky and cute looking and don't think a repaint is gunna fix that.
The other two ain't too bad but yeah you can see the sculpts took a back seat on these:)
I love that custom stanz by the conatainment unit.
I have the blues brothers sculpt, if I can pick up a stanz loose thats the way I'll go.

When you say original - you mean that is a cast Mattel Venkman head you painted? Just haven't seen anyone do that.

That SS jumpsuit is mighty tan in-hand. The Matty jumpsuit seems really close?

The Mattel ones do look more like the screen version of the jumpsuits to me, though Mr. E (who knows better than I do) says that they are still inaccurate and can benefit from being dyed slightly with the gray dye. I'm gonna attempt to dye mine when the remaining jumpsuits I ordered come in. Better to do them all at once so they can be uniform--one way or the other.

Yeah, I would have also bought the 6" "Real" GB figures (I got the Minimates). Would seem to be the perfect fit, considering that the old figures from the '80s were around that size. Not sure why Mattel went with MEGO. The eras don't even match up, since MEGO was a '70s-very early '80s toy, while the "Real" Ghostbusters was, like, '86 on.

The 12" sculpts just represent Mattel's conception of a "high end" sculpt in my opinion. The GB figures are very similar in quality and style to what we got with those Superman figures, which were also supposed to represent film characters. We saw their "high end" BTTF 2 hoverboard, and it was also disappointing when the final product reached folks. But they are a mass production run toy company, and don't cater to high end collectors very often, so this wasn't too surprising to me. But knowing that the sculpts would be relatively easy upgrades once someone did some decent sculpts, I'm glad they focused their efforts where they did--on accessories.

No mine is a very old version snyderman made and it was recasted, so not great but, what I had to hand.
The original mattel sculpt aint worth repainting I'd say but who knows:)

Might try dying mine with dylon antique grey in a weak mix and see how it looks.
Worse case I can always use the colour remover and it will go back to the original tan?
Hopefully:)

I would love to see someone try to repaint the Mattel just out of interest (they're just thrown away, right?.) It has a bit of Venkman in there but the apps are so cartoony it's hard to say. Interested to see whether the sculpt was as much to blame.

Am tempted to paint it myself as I'm curious.
I know what you mean but reckon the sculpt ain't that great and my skills are not good enough to polish it:)

Hey guys...

question... whats the best way to treat the Mattel suits? Tea bath? Weathering? Water-treatment? Help!

I might give it a go for grins.

Can't wait for a few suits that are coming my way for commissions as well, one of my all time favorite movies to present a representation of.
