geez he's old. and it looks like Sarah Silverman wants to bang him and that he wants to bang the model.

You know he did both of them at the same time. I heard Bill finally gave the ok to Aykroyd. I also heard it's going to be like the old GB's training a set of new, younger GB's.

Please, guys, just don't cast Shia Labeouf. Just because it's a movie based on an old concept doesn't mean you have to cast him. Really, there are other people out there who can act in remakes / updates. Honest.

if it has to be a torch passing movie, i just hope they don't cast too many characters. keep it to the 4 originals and 2 kids. maybe go 3 kids if you limit the screen time on ernie.

:lol!!

I don't know if this has been said or not... I'm sure it has but I don't fee like reading 14 pages... The OG GB's will be all washed up and old (no surprise) and will be "mentors" to the new GB's, which they will enlist because of their age. Bill Murray will die in the movie and become a ghost who helps the new GB's, bet. :rock

just saw ghostbusters on blu ray last night, made me want to find this thread and add to it.. one of my favorite movies of all time.. i hope they tie in the ghostbuster video game plot with ghostbusters 3.. i liked how they explain the mood slime and brought to live ivo shandor... of course they will bring in new ghostbusters, but i hope they dont just bring in comedians.. it would be ironic and funny if they brought in a hugh jackman or someone who does action, but does comedy at the same time.. make bill murray jealous.. put more athleticism to the ghostbusters.. also have oscar who woud be in his 20s as a ghostbuster.. even have paul rudd in there

This is what Aykroyd had to say today:

After years of rumors, it appears that Ghostbuster 3 is finally moving forward and will likely do so with or without Bill Murray's involvement. Dan Aykroyd appeared on The Dennis Miller Show to discuss the project, dropping specific details about the sequel, hinting that the plan is to film in Spring of 2012 no matter what happens casting-wise.

"Yes, we will be doing the movie and hopefully with Mr. Murray," he says, "That is our hope. We have an excellent script. What we have to remember is that 'Ghostbusters' is bigger than any one component, although Billy was absolutely the lead and contributive to it in a massive way, as was the director and Harold [Ramis], myself and Sigourney [Weaver]. The concept is much larger than any individual role and the promise of 'Ghostbusters 3' is that we get to hand the equipment and the franchise down to new blood."

The comedian also confirmed reports that the plot will revolve around a new generation of Ghostbusters and hinted at the states of his and Ramis' characters.

"My character, Ray, is now blind in one eye and can't drive the cadillac," he says, "He's got a bad knee and can't carry the packs... Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that's the promise. We're gonna hand it to a new generation."

As for who might be cast as the new characters, Aykroyd says that, while no decision has been made, he does have a fondness for one piece of prospective casting.

"I like this guy Matthew Gray Gubler from the 'Criminal Minds' show," he adds, "But there's going to be a casting. We're going to see everyone that wants to do it. We're going to need... three guys and a young woman."

I'm torn. You know that someday were going to get another Ghostbusters. It's going to happen, period. Studios like money, it isn't rocket science.

I would much rather have it happen this way, with official involvement from the guys I came to love etc and them picking their replacements rather then some studio shoving the hot young hack comedians of tommorow down our throats, but it doesn't sound like it's being done right. I can't imagine anything Ghostbusters related without Venkman. Venkman is Ghostbusters. And for the most part, certainly in this situation, Murray is Venkman. And Ray's blind, the guys can't bust at all? No action from the Ghostbusters, just old beat up teachers? I don't want to remember them like that. Sounds awful. This is just a lose, lose situation.

P.S., how did Blues Brothers 2000 work out without John?...

That's basically what Murray has been saying. He's hinted that he will probably end up doing it out of friendship to Dan Aykroyd but that he has no interest in the "passing the torch" theme since it's basically just about the studio securing a future for the franchise and not about making the best movie possible (outside of that goal).

Since the last Murray interview I read (wish I had a link but it was a couple months ago) my enthusiasm is non-existent. If it's a case of Aykroyd needing the money or something like that then I hope it gets made. If it miraculously turns out good, that's cool. But I've got zero expectation.
