thats good enough. I knew it though, people would be scared, some of the positives sound pretty negative
Studio underlings asked to "review" the movie... who the hell else has seen it?
While on the issue of sexism, did you not pick up on the anti-male current in this movie?
Every male is either portrayed as an ******* or as a complete idiot. I'm pretty sure Kevin is mentally disabled and should not have a license to ride a motor bike. Like the guy doesn't know how to answer the phone, thinks covering his eyes will stop him hearing sounds. Seriously. That's not comedy, that's stupid.
Exactly - it's an internet forum where people hide behind usernames and a keyboard. Compared to facebook and YouTube comments sections Freaks is quite tame.
yes, exactly..Lots of people stateside seem to have pretended to see it, to ***** about it. Including a couple I've read on here.
Truth is only reviewers and insiders have seen the movie in the US. They have allegedly even started a hate campaign on IMDB, to knock it.
Sad world we live in that people get off on this kind of thing.
From a few of the reviews I've read they say that the film isn't "feminist enough" kind of leaving open opportunities shy and playing it safe for the most part, so I have a feeling that those who are on the "this hates men" bus won't have much traction. From the previews the film looks disjointed to me and it's expensive to hit the movie theater so I'll be passing but I look forward to watching it on HBO or Netflix.
Well the theatre I was in laughed as did I so I guess you just didn't find it funny. Men have a looooong ways to go before the sexism cards are equal. When things are more even between the sexes then and only then do you have a point or take offense. But it is a ways of yet before men being objectified comes even remotely close to amount of times or how women are objectifed on screen and in general
It's probably my sense of humour. Just didn't find it funny.
The sexism cards are a long way for being equal, I agree and I don't care if men are objectified in movies or what ever. Sure look at Magic Mike doesn't bother me and women love it, fair play.
What bothers me is when a director and cast attack fans of the original movies and call it sexism and keyboard warriors etc. and then stick that in the movie. Bit of a double standard there.
This movie had/has an opportunity to define some young girls childhoods and create new idols for them growing up just like the originals did for most of us.
I honestly think they missed a few opportunities in there.
Well I know that many little girls love it and even when Kevin Smith (who also liked it) saw girls dressed up as GB going nuts for the movie. I went with three women and they all loved it. So not sure where you are getting that idea from at all.
I also do not see a double standard here. You are acting like there has't been massive sexist bile and bollocks aimed at the cast and creators of this movie. It was one throw away line and it was well deserved and funny as the reactions this movie are utterly ridiculous and should be made fun of at the very least.
Who knew a sony executive was a long time member of this board, so weird. Kinda creepy.
I think its a non issue. It's like white people complaining about white rights.
The trailer is a bad trailor so if you judge the movie on that then you will think it's disjointed but it actually flows well. It's not as naturally flowing or as subtle as the original but it's not disjointed. At least that's my opinion. Other opinions are available of course.
Am I supposed to be impressed by what Kevin Smith liked or saw?
You don't see the double standard, that's not my problem either. It's there.
So have any non-SJW's actually liked this movie? Even here in this thread all I see from people defending it is the same "you're a sexist loser if you don't think this movie will be good" BS that we've been hearing from the cast and director.
I still have yet to read a single post of anyone ever saying "I refuse to see this film because it has women in it." People (myself included) love seeing torches being passed from male to female heroes. We live in the age of Furiosa and Rey for crying out loud. Kinda blows up the whole claim that "men can't handle women taking over previously male dominated franchises."
