True but thats where the similarities end unfortunately. i just see this remake as further evidence of the moral and creative bankruptcy of hollywood. Nothing is sacred to them and they'll release any old trash(like this movie and the remakes of robocop, nightmare on elm street, mad max & star wars..the list goes on) in order to cash in on the name and make a quick buck. I don't tend to watch movies from this decade or anything since the mid 90s in terms of sci fi coz thats when good sci fi stopped. I think the last good sci fi movie i actually watched was starship troopers.

I would prefer it actually have less similarities. Because then it could be more interesting and worthwhile than the very transparent nostalgia-inducing money grab that they're going all in for (and which is applicable to about 80-90% of major movies released nowadays apparently).

There have been lots of really good sci-fi movies coming out since the mid-90s, though. Sunshine, Interstellar, District 9, Ex Machina, Looper, Moon, Children of Men, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Edge of Tomorrow, etc.

Just watched the trailer. Movie looks silly (obviously) but it also looks totally harmless and fun.

It looked harmless but I did not see any fun to be had.

I liked, the effects ( I knew I would) I even liked the interaction between the 3 scientists, they weren't loud or screaming at each other... I kind of liked the beginning of the trailer
But that 4th lady showed up and i wanted to turn it off... wtf ? how come no one is calling the director out for making such a cliche and stereotypical character?
the 4th GB lady is going to ruin this whole thing

I knew she would suck when I saw her stand up routine on Comedy Central.. She is not funny at all.... Just loud, crass, and potty mouthed.

Rest of them look to be not funny in this either. I like Kristen Wigg (sp?) but this film looks bad..

Now I will say that people who put comedy trailers together are often bad at it... Comedy requires timing and a trailer usually sets off the timing but nothing about this film looks interesting.

Yup, the new Winston is loud and obnoxious....typical Hollywood stereotyping.

Yes, typically. I mean, people were outraged about "Pixels" for God's sake. And now it's gone and didn't "ruin" video games or anything. This new Ghostbusters will come and go and either it'll have a few chuckles and/or laughs or I imagine it will fall flat and be swept under the rug. No harm no foul. We'll always have the original.

I don't really have a horse in the "Ghostbusters" race (I already think we've had a disappointing sequel so this version won't exactly be blazing a new trail in that regard) but I do look forward to all of you venting your anger about the film once it's released. The after party online commentary is often funnier than the movie itself. I anticipate good times ahead.

Oh, I doubt I'll even see it, either. I just don't care one way or the other. But I am definitely surprised by how awful the Leslie Jones character appears to be, and even more shocked by how awful a person she seems to be IRL.

I wonder if any SWJ are raging over the outrage of this movie, I mean, I hate this **** being pushed down my throat, but how can the keyboard fighters defend this:

Token black character that is loud: "I may not be a scientist, but I know the streets and I can steal cars"....

I can't wait to see them trying to defend this. Not here, of course, thank god there aren't many of those fools around here.
