Well...this sucks. I didn't like the first one at all, but I loved how they'd made Cobra Commander look for this one. Hoping they don't change that, he was probably the only reason I was even slightly interested in seeing it.

Again, I will say this, the first movie is a decent film. It's actually pretty good. It just would have been better if it weren't titled GI Joe.

Which is why the Hunger Games did so well. I think it doing so well has officially extended the Summer blockbuster season into March now.

No, The Hunger Games did well because it was a very good movie with extremely strong word of mouth. A March release didn't stop John Carter from tanking.

Well isn't duke like the main character of gijoe. I don't know much about gijoe but every time I see a cartoon picture he's on it.

Not really, no.

Gi joe has a few different what you might call "main characters"

In the cartoon, it seemed to be back and forth between Duke and Flint.

In the comics, it was more or less the Snake-eyes show. And duke was a MUCH more bit-player. Hawk was the Other Big guy in the comics.

The origin story aside, that didn't happen until after around Issue #120 or so. Up until that point, it was a mixed back with varied characters.

Yeah, you're right. Though even then, it certainly didn't feature Duke Very Heavily. definitely not what i'd call "main character" status.

Nope. While Duke was an airtime whore in the cartoon, he shared his facetime in the comics with other Joes. One of the reasons why the comic was better.

all this talk of the comic makes me wanna reload it into my ipad.

I need to get caught back up on the IDW series too. Stopped reading it after the start of the "who will be cobra commander" story.

Only one more TPB to go until they've collected the whole original Marvel run.

John Carter was actually good, but the advertising for it was awful and word of mouth couldn't overcome that. Hungar Games was advertised properly and word of mouth only helped.

Nevertheless, Hunger Game's success in March is going to make studios think about a March release for future blockbusters, just as this move suggests.

This kind of sucks, I won't pay to see this in 3D anyways, but I guess I really can't blame the studio for trying to hedge their bets and do everything they can to get more money out of their project.

It's a bit of a disappointment now, but I think I'll be hyped for the movie again, closer to it's new release date (if that's true).

Man, WTF!!!

You have to think they are going to put more Tatum in this movie. This ____in retard is in everything these days, he most be blowing every exec in hollywood

I was going to go and see this, not a snowballs chance in hell they get my coin now

:lol

They're going to film a scene where Roadblock gets a phone call from Doc saying he's okay.

That's exactly what will happen. And from that point on, Tatum's Duke will join Roadblock and everybody else necessitating the need for not just additional scenes, but really a whole new film. All this reminds me of what happened with that Exorcist prequel years back. William Friedkin shot his prequel which was rejected by Warner Brothers for not being scary enough then WB brought in Jan De Bont to reshoot several scenes. What De Bont ended up doing was film an entirely different film which was awful. The Friedkin version was eventually released on DVD but it too wasn't all that good either.

If I was John Chu, I'd be pretty ____ing upset right now. Paramount is probably going to take GI Joe 2 away from him and give it to some "new" Paramount picked director who will shoot scenes especially for 3D. Yuck!
