Why the F would they mold a mouth on Snake Eyes?:banghead

The second Snake Eyes in the vintage line (the one that came with Timber) seems to be the inspiration for the film's design, and believe it or not, that figure had a mouth moulded in the mask. In my opinion, Snake Eyes is the least of our worries with this movie.

I have a feeling we'll be pleasantly surprised with Destro when he puts on his mask. The only one that worries me too much is Cobra Commander. Sure they are keeping his look hidden, but to take too much away from his iconic look will certainly tick fans off. Just like Snake-Eyes is known for his trademark "knight visor" and Destro for his mask and Storm Shadow for being the only ninja I know in WHITE, Cobra Commander is known for his chrome faceplate...and his hood.

Actually, Destro's mask looks like ass in the film. (I can't believe I'm about to defend the Cobra Commander costume, but...) CC did wear a similar costume to the movie design near the end of the comic run. In a two issue story arc, he had a suit of armour under his regular gear, and it was only revealed when Snake Eyes napalmed him.

actually the mouth detail on the snake eyes 1985 figure is supposed to depict the shape of his features under a cloth mask NOT to be a molded feature of his mask itself...

I'm so glad I bailed on the comic looooooooooooooooooooong before I had to read these storylines.

I mean, who'd buy this comic with THAT cover???

What do you mean Neil? Look at how firm the Commander's buttocks look. :naughty SERIOUSLY though, I stopped reading right after the whole Serpentor thing. But looking at this cover, did Snake Eyes have a costume without a mask??

That made me wonder when I really did in fact bail so I went upstairs to my home office (love March Break :D) and I went through my comics collection. While I bought a few issues around #100-- I officially bailed on the G.I. Joe comic (after buying each issue religiously starting with #11--and then back tracking to get the first 10) after picking up issue #81.

Battle Force 2000... Thanks-- no more Hasbro commercial for me. I'm done.

Maybe that's what's so upsetting (at the top anyway) about this new movie. With the plethora of characters/storylines/possibilities this movie is more like a giant commercial than any of the cartoons or comics ever were. It's being made to sell toys and not to create a good movie experience (like Iron-Man, The Dark Knight..etc..)

Oh well.

if you had stuck around a little longer you would have seen Hama Kill off Battle force 2000 in a huge fiery explosion...

Sorry I missed that one.

Honestly, by this point every issue introduced the new "it" character who everyone else was in awe with-- they looked unbeatable and incredibly dominant, and then the next week they were just another face in the crowd while the next new "it" character was introduced. It was glaringly obvious that storyline was not a priority but diggin' into parents' wallets for toys was the number one reason for the funny book.

Yep!

many joes were killed in that war in Trucial Abysmia(?) :monkey2

I remember Doc was one of those.

And I remember that the guy in that cover was the only survivor of the battle force 2000

If it's a commercial advertising some product called "Suck Ass," it's definitely working! :lol

It's pretty bad that the costume department
for this movie screwed up a simple Ninja mask...

...twice! :banghead

But therein lies a debate. Personally, I think Snake Eyes is a Commando trained in the art of ninjitsu, not a ninja, per say, whereas Stormshadow's a fully realized ninja.

Oh, I totally agree! :banana
I always saw Snake Eyes in a SWAT like hood
or something. I just meant that they could've used
an "off the rack" ninja hood for him and Storm Shadow,
but nooooooo. :(

This reminds me, I was watching the new Knight Rider
the other day (yeah, flame away ;) ) and it was an episode
where bank robbers pull off a heist. Anyway, the robbers
looked more like Cobra Soldiers than the ones in this movie!
I thought that was pretty sad! :banghead

:rotfl:rotfl Too funny.

Anyone remember the original Knight Rider? In the pilot episode Michael Knight (briefly played by someone else) has plastic surgery to hide his new identity. David Hasselhoff becomes the new Michael Knight.... In later episodes he would fight a 18 wheeler with KITT like technology. Here's the clincher his evil twin brother(also played by Hasselhoff) was the driver of the truck. HOW could his evil twin brother look like him if he had plastic surgery in the pilot episode!!! Ahhhhhh my head!

I think we'll be able to tuck this movie (hell and that live-action Chow Yun Fat DragonBall bastardization too) in the same category as Street Fighter. It'll wind up being one of those movies on USA, on Saturday afternoon, where you think, "What's this?" and start watching until you realize just what crawled out of the toilet and change the channel back to that MXC rerun. :lol
