I hadnt really cared about it before, now Im anxious for it to come out to compare it to TF2.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, prolly the worst choice for Cobra Commander. Have u seen this interview? jeepers, y dont u treat the mythology with some respect. what a flippin idiot

We're talking about G.I. Joe right? The cartoon. The kids cartoon, right? Kids cartoons have a "mythology" now!? Adjust your tin foil hat, son.

No.. We're talking about the comic BOOK... The one that had over 150 issues.

Whats lame? the comic? The Gi joe comic was one of the best Marvel serie of the 80's.And yes,Larry Hama created one great and rich Mytho.

Soooooooooo... Heath Ledger's performance in one of the top grossing movies of all time was based upon Adam West's kids show? He was channeling the mythology of Cesar Romero? Or, sorry, was THE DARK KNIGHT based upon the SUPER FRIENDS cartoon?

Yes, the Batman comic created by Bob Kane existed many years before the Marvel G.I.Joe comic that was introduced in the early 80's, but it's universally accepted that Frank Millar's The Dark Knight re-imagined not only Gotham's brooding hero but also the superhero identity completely (there was also a certain comic book called WATCHMEN that you might have heard about in that time as well). Last year's massive movie success used the mythology laid out by those COMIC BOOKS of the 80's (and subsequently amped up in the 90's and beyond) to put a phenomenal story on the big screen. The producers of this property had a similar opportunity if they had used the mythology laid out in the G.I. Joe comics. They didn't. They failed.

We're not talking about the kids cartoon where everyone shot lasers and whenever a plane got shot down there was always a parachute. We're talking about a kick-a$$ comic that has multi-layers and characters with depth and pathos-- not just a Village People wanta be Gung-Ho.

If you're not familiar with the mythos of the comics then I'd suggest you leave well enough alone with the condescending tone.

Thanks.

No need for a rebuttal. I was talking about the cartoon. YOU started talking about the comics. Herb.

This would be an insult in a condescending tone
Adjust your tin foil hat, son
towards someone who is familiar with something that you obviously are not. You were called on it. Accept it. Move on.

Anything could be insulting in a "condescending tone". But since we're typing and reading I'm not sure how you know for a fact what "tone" people are typing in.

 And you know this because? Right you don't. Accept it. Move on.

I've offered proof. You've countered with insults.

Insults in a thread-- how novel. Best of luck in the next debate.

:wave

What proof!? The guy who I was responding to has 1 post. The one I responded to. Which was:

The film is based on the cartoon. Not the comics. So what "mythology" should Joseph Gordon-Levitt "respect" exactly when it comes to the cartoon!?

Direct quotes from that youtube clip.
"STOP LOSS is a soldier movie."
"G.I.Joe has nothing to do with that. G.I.Joe is what it's like to be an action figure."

Nowhere in the interview clip does it use the word cartoon or is it said that this movie is based on the cartoon. G.I.Joe, from the comics, should have been a soldier movie just as THE DARK KNIGHT was a movie about what it means to be a hero.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt doesn't get it because the people making this movie don't get it. If BATMAN & ROBIN was the only movie version of the caped crusader released onto the big screen would you be satisfied? Would you think that they presented the dark knight admirably in the best light (or rather the best shadows) that they could have? Nipples on the suit and all?

The characters exist for diehard fans in the comics-- and those fans would have loved to have seen some of those characters come to life in a "real soldier movie". This movie, and the handling of the property, is beyond Clooney's Batman.
