You guys are awesome. I just don't have patience to this type of stuff. Anybody want to do this for me for a fee?:monkey3

Awwwe, the whole customizing/creation and feeling of accomplishment when it's done and you see how great it looks (especially given the minimal effort), is what makes it all worthwhile.

Yup. Thats why custom pieces will always be more awesome than mass produced items. (for the most part :lol)

We should also thank thenammagazine because he has been tutoring me on instant messenger as I do and as I take shots for the tutorial. :duff

(Chase lets see some pics) :D

I'll take some pix tomorrow. I still need to futz some more, get hands just right and work on feet.

Right now I am off to bed, got work at midnight.

And thnx thenammagazine for tutoring Marc :rock

(on the phone with Ripley's ~ Believe It or Not right now!) :rotfl Seriously though, Pix is doing all the work. I'm just the dumb monkey on the other end of the line pushing buttons. :p

Actually, Carbo, if you want to cover shipping to and fro, I'll do the DiD body mod for free. I need to actually cover quite a few steps Pix missed (the impatient cur :lol) that'll make the mod 100% easier.

Fun to see this project proceeding so far with everyone. I'm so behind, too busy with work and holiday nonsense...and looking at Toht. :)

Eager to see the pics from the latest additions.

I hope to get mine going end of this week. If it really only takes an hour like King says then I'm all over it. I keep dreading the repaint on the face, but maybe I'll just hold that off until later and at least get this guy on the right body and dressed.

Still need the roto though.

I still need to paint mine (or more honestly, have it painted). All I really did in the meantime, was repaint the blue eyes brown and touch up a bit of the beard overpainting on the face.

Really wanna thank all involved in this thread for sharing the information on the Gimil custom. My DiD and Rotocast arrived today, so far only $40 spent. I ordered a Toy Biz soft today that with shipping will be about $35, all I need now is the hauburk, which I may make myself if I can find suitable material. This will be by far the most advanced custom I've ever done. The most I've done in the past is redressing Toy Biz Famous Covers figues with some minimal sculpting. (for those familiar with the figures, I made a custom Byrne era Cyclops from a Jim Lee era one, and redressed a Playmates Picard in a Suit for a 9" Prof Xavier).
One question though, what type of glue are you using to reattach the split body together? I know it's not superglue as it doesn't work on plastic. Thanks.

I used Gorilla Super Glue. That stuff is powerful. And it works just fine on plastic.

Myth. I use Superglue on all my 1:6 customs. It works fine and bonds extremely well. One trick I use is to clean down the edges being glued and glue both sides before putting it together. Then, it's just a matter of cleaning off any dried seepage with a razorblade.

Heres a rather crappy picture, and nothing that has not already been seen, but here it is anyway.

I have gotten a Roto Gimli yet and the holiday crunch in here for me so it will likely be awhile before I attempt to find one. I like the gauntlet size and feet too from the soft so I would only be getting it for the shoulder armour, not sure if it is worth it.

And I missed the talk about the chainmail, so if someone could get me up to speed on that it would be appriated.

Anyway, I still have futzing to do, but this has been a fun project :rock

Okay, all futzed will and I am satisfied. I dont need the shoulder armor. So I guess a head paint is all I need now.

Looking good. I passed on the Roto as well.

My Gimli headsculpt is in the process of getting repainted. I just received the "fat body suit" and will work on getting it and the DiD outfit set up on the Toybiz figure. I don't like the DiD body so will just do some simple extensions to the Toybiz body and call it a day.

Chase, did you just use Boromir's or Legolas' cloak?

I dont know :lol

When I went to get a clock I check Boromir's box and there was nothing in there, so I checked Legola's box and there were 2 cloaks, so I really dont which one I am using :dunno :lol

I'm glad to see so many people's Gimlis are coming together. It makes me sad to think that we're not going to see the other two hobbits in my display. You guys really don't want to try for a Pippin or Merry?

Your Gimli looks great. The only thing I'd do differently would be to pull that sheathed Axe out that's on the right side a bit and tuck the handle through the ring on the belt. It actually goes through both the strap on the breast of the harness and the ring on the waist:
