Not particularly. Once the clothing and gear are on and he's been futzed a bit I doubt there'd be much difference. That said, I've tried both the Dead Santa one and the Solider Story one and the later fit a bit better.

You happen to know where you can get the soldier story one at?

I still need to find a rotocast gimli.

That's the scarcest piece of the build :lol. What was once abundant on ebaY and cursed as unsellable has now become somewhat of a grail because of this custom. I've sifted through the hundreds and hundreds of LOTR stuff on Amazon (weekly) and constantly check ebaY. Your best bet is the one for near $40 on ebaY. Trust me. I'm already looking for 2 other freaks and ATM, that's the best I can find and neither wanna pony up for it so it's fair game.

It is funny how elusive this roto has become in just a short time.

I would have thought we'd run out of DiD long before the roto. In fact, when this all started, I thought I'd have trouble finding the DiD at all, let alone at a price I was willing to pay. But that 'Kelly' seems to have stockpiled the entire supply single-handedly.

Sooner or later, there will be a "kelly" with the roto.

Meanwhile, EC might have me covered on the shoulder armor, which is the key piece I really need from the roto. I can live with the fixed TB gautlets and less detailed boots.

BTW, Nam, thanks for still keeping an eye out for me.

Hey Entropy...any updates on those head cast and other surprises???

:D

sorry, stuff piles up and I haven't gotten a chance to post yet.
 *irons hands*

The mold has turned out to be a bit trickier and time consuming to cast because of the odd angles and neck. But I do have a block of time available this weekend, so I will do everything possible to have them up in the next day or so.

Amazing! Can't wait! :rock

Okay, wanted to post an update about the Gimli head.

I had hoped to have cast pics up by now but have had some issues with the casting resin I've been using. The Gimli 2 part mold is done, sitting in front of me now, clean with no air bubbles which is a good thing. But before I began pouring casts in earnest, this week I tried using the resin I had left over from a previous project on some test molds, including the shoulder armor one and it did not turn out well, resulting in sloppy casts and damaged molds. :( I'm curing a new shoulder armor mold now.

Not entirely sure what went wrong, other than the material's age, as the previous molds and casts were excellent with no issues. So rather than try to make it work and possibly damage my only mold of the head, I've ordered new, fresh supplies that I know will work. They should be here next week. Sorry for the delay, I know you guys are waiting. In the meantime, I may cast the head in wax just so I can post pics of the finished sculpt, and for a hard copy, as the original was destroyed in making the mold.

You can see in this test Legolas mold where the mold has torn around the edges and on the eye.

Here's what came out, still with bits of mold clinging to it. :(
