Woah.....since when were you accepting orders for the heads and the ring? How come I didn't know about this?!?!

It's in this thread a few pages back.

And since I couldn't find a Bilbo thread, I'll post this as well.
Cast Bilbo head with proper hobbit ears and the same neck attachment as Frodo & Sam. Wig soon to come...

Lookin' good!!!

And that will slip on to the custom Gimli no problem, right? Does it allow for chainmail? I'm guessing the roto original has some pliablility being plastic, so I just want to know how careful one needs to be with this?

Should slide over the arms no prob, not entirely sure about mail. I'll test fit tonight. It's not quite as pliable as the pvc original, but they're fairly durable and shouldn't snap with a moderate amount of force on it. Still, I drilled them out fairly thinly so, ya know, be careful. :D

The Gimli heads & One Rings have been shipped to all those who have paid, thanks for your patience.

If you still want to order one I can produce a few more. After that I'm retiring the molds.

Thanks again everyone! hope you all enjoy. Can't wait to start seeing these painted up and on bodies.

You'll definitely need the Dragon in Dreams (DiD) Gimli figure for the body, clothing and weapons. The body will require some modification and you'll find instructions on how to do so in this thread.

Now, you have a couple of options for the rest of the figure. For the hands/gauntlets, head, helmet and boots, you can either go with Toybiz's "soft" version or their rotocast version. Both have their pros and cons.

The rotocast parts are of slightly smaller scale than the "soft", and it's really a question of taste as to which ones look more in-scale with the rest of the figure. The fine details on the armoured parts and helmet are slightly better with the rotocast, but I found the fit of the helmet to be much better with the "soft". Also of note is that the rotocast Gimli has swivel joints at the wrist, whereas the "soft" does not.

That's pretty much it for the basic figure. If you want to "flesh" him out a bit, it's a good idea to get a 1:6 scale fat suit to give the figure some extra bulk, and many customizers have chosen to use Ignite's 1:6 mail hauberk to replace the god-awful sparkled version that comes with DiD's release.

I went with a combination of all three base figures. The DiD for the body, weapons and clothes, the Toybiz "soft" version for the head, helmet, gauntlets and boots and the Toybiz rotocast version for the shoulder armour.

Whoooaaa! What an awesome custom Gimili head!! Is it possible to still get one??

Yup, but I'm nearing the cut off for orders again. PM sent!

Sorry, KD. Hopefully tomm. he'll arrive.

Glad you like him, pix! I'm happy he's showing up in mailboxes now. Can't wait to see him in figs, and to get a chance and finally paint up my own.

got my gimli head as well. it looks super duper. dont know when i'll ever get around to finishing him though. too many projects going on. at least i got my DID gimli already.

anyone know where i can get a good fat suit? I can't seem to find the green beret one mentioned in the how to page..

just got the DiD and Soft.. plus chain mail.. gonna order the head and armor from Entropy, and hopefully i'll be on my way to a rockin gimli!

Thanks again to all of you who put so much effort into this!

Man, you weren't kidding. I just checked eBay and couldn't find a single one. You can get a fat suit with some current Sideshow figures, like Ed from Shaun of the Dead, or the zombie Santa, but I doubt you'd want to spend over $50 just for the fat suit.

I'll keep looking and let you know if I find anything.
