I would also be interested in shoulder armor along with the head.

I really hope the mold holds up so you are able to make more heads.

Ok. My PM box got full and has now been cleared a bit for those trying to contact me. :chew

I am into this far too late in the game it seems. I am on the waiting list for the head, shoulder armor, boots and helm from Entropy Chicken. I have the Toybiz Gimli on order for the body and weapons. I am still trying to track down a DID Gimli for parts, but not sure it will happen.

If you guys wouldn't mind posting a list of what you are using for your own figure it would help. I read this entire thread but everyone keeps upgrading over time and it is nearly impossible to tell exactly what parts everyone is using now.

Soft TB Gimli for Head and Helmet
Roto TB Gimli for boots, gauntlets and shoulder armor
DiD for body, clothes, and weapons (this is the one that has the good weapons)
Chainmail and fat suit I bought off eBay.

So if I get on the list for Entropy Chicken's head, armor and boots I don't even need the TB gimli. I have the chainmail and fatsuit. The only part I haven't been able to track down is the DID Gimli, and that is the "meat and potatos" of this bash it would seem. That's what I get for waiting. :)

Exactly right. The DiD really is the meat and taters of the custom. (I hadn't thought of it that way but you are right :lol)

Yes. The only TB bits I have no plans to cast are the gauntlets and helmet. The boots are on hold and will be a little bit until I can get all these heads and armor cast and rings made. :duh

PM sent for the seller we've all been getting the DiD Gimli from.

Entropy, will you send a PM of the seller to me as well. Have been looking for sometime and have come up empty.

TIA

So, I'm getting back to combining the figures... is there anyway to get rid of the glitter from the DiD mail? That ^^^^ is everywhere... any tips, or is it something you just have to live with?

Well mine all fell off during the customization process so its not an issue at all anymore (if you like the look of white chainmail.) :lol

I bought new mail for mine.

That seller, Kelly, sure must have been hoarding those figures for years! :lol

I'm still shocked she had so many, gotta be running low at this point right?? But it's good for us! Those would've been a nightmare to track down otherwise.

what chainmail did you end up going with, pix?

I'd rub off as much glitter as I could over a trashcan or whatever and then lightly paint/stain it with a slight greyish black wash with some drybrushing of dark silver.

My recipe was similar, but not quite the same.

Soft TB gimli for the head, helmet, gauntlets and boots
Roto Gimli for the shoulder armour
DiD Gimli for the body, clothes and accessories
1:6 scale mail hauberk and fat suit from eBay

The boots and gauntlets are a question of taste. The ones from the soft Gimli are slightly larger than the roto, so they're a little more in-scale with the rest of the figure, but the sculpt detail isn't quite as sharp and there's no wrist articulation (although there's a way around that).

The boots are actually easier, as all you have to do is remove the DiD figure's feet entirely (a small cut to the back of the ankle joint does the trick) and the leg stumps slide right in. No need to boil the boots in order to slide in the feet, as with the roto boots.

You're right about the wrist articulation, though. But it's not even necessary, to be honest. The DiD figure's forearms fit tightly into the gauntlets, so attaching them in any permanent way really isn't required.

I guess the bottom line is that there are options if someone isn't able to get both the Toybiz soft and the roto Gimli figures. The DiD figure, however, is a must.
