I know next to nothing about Thrawn, but his chair is way too awesome to pass up! And it is still cheaper than Cobra Commander's throne so I don't know why people are complaining about the price. Would we all like it cheaper, sure, but what can we do?

We can not buy it... which is what I am going to do. I don't have a problem with them making Thrawn and I understand the costs of stuff goes up but sometimes it just hurts when you actually see that increase. :)

I'd hate to see a lack of interest in the Thrawn throne deter Sideshow from making The Emperor's. My guess is that there are still a LOt of Heir to the empire fans out there who are majorly excited to have this amazing Imperial make such a splash in 12".

I am one of those excited fans. Heir to the Empire played an important role in my love of Star Wars. I bought it when it came out and it helped renew my interest in the franchise. I have a special place in my heart for Thrawn and will definitely get the figure at some point. However, while I LOVE the throne as it makes the figure and any display possibilities so much better, it is just too expensive.

question to those complaining about the price.

How much is the hot toys godfather?

Also, if this were Plapatine from ROTJ and his throne, would you still be complaining?

A. Do not even insult Hot Toys (or Enterbay) by comparing them to Sideshow. In terms of paint application, clothing quality, they outclass SS at every turn. They routinely make figures Sideshow could not deliver at any price. Sideshow could not even deliver armoured figures without Hot Toys' assistance.

B. Yes I would still find more than $150 total for Palpatine with the throne to be too expensive. Still Palpatine is a major character with a throne based on an actual screen design. Thrawn's chair is some random design, at best taken from some comic book which only a portion of Star Wars fans read.

I doubt Thrawns Chair sales will have any bearing on The Emperor and his throne, that is a character and setup people have asked for.

Agreed. Even if absolutely none of the Thrawn chairs sold, they'd still stick the Throne with the Emperor, its a guaranteed seller for about 90% of Star Wars fans, even those who are scoffing at this.

I'm starting to lean towards just Thrawn without the throne, I think I want more of a regal militaristic pose and the chair would take too much space on my shelves....

Hmmmmm. Where to start.

A. Sure HT is better. They have, on average, a 60% higher price tag. So, of course, with that one would expect the quality to be 60% better. So let's be fair. Yes, Sideshow arguably doesn't release figures of HT quality, but they're not 60% less quality. That's not to say that there aren't exceptions to this by BOTH companies.

B. As to Thrawn, Sideshow is well aware that there are fans outside of a few snobbish film elitists. Thankfully they cater to both. Expecting only film-based releases is selfish and quite frankly foolish. The Zahn novels proved to Lucas during the SW drought of the early 90's that SW fans were as eager as ever for more SW. So you have Thrawn, through Zahn, to thank for the revitalization. Oh, and BTW, Thrawn was in novels LONG before he appeared in a "comic book," novels which were New York Times best sellers for a hell of a long time. I'd say that's more than just a "portion" of SW fans who bought and read them.

Got my pre-order in, without the throne. I just can't justify it right now. Besides, I won't be able to turn down the Emporer's throne when they do it, and I only have SO much shelf space...

The Thrawn on display at SDCC looks so much better than the photos on the Sideshow website. Blue is lighter and there are some nice subtle highlights and shading. I'm holding off on ordering until they start shipping and I can see what the actual production figure looks like.

Little hot toys brown-nosing there mate? It's an example, of a figure with a chair.

But, If 150$ is your max bracket, that's still cool Though I can promise you that palpy's throne will be AT LEAST 200 on it's own.

Should Ackbar get a chair too?

It is a cool figure and the chair is awesome, but it doesn't suit my collection. For those who love it thats a great figure and chair. I think i might have been tempted to buy the chair if it was for sale on its own.

:lol I think you've captured the elusive "The Josh" in that pic... Very shady character.

:rotfl:lol:rotfl

Glad I've got the Exclusive ordered--- The chair looks awesome and incoporating these large pieces as exclusives really allow us to elevate the posing of a 1/6 so that it takes on more of a "moving" statue-type feel or even more of the creation of a dio...

That's me. :lol You can also see a couple other freaks in the other pics but you can only know them if you've got the hook up. :lol
