Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

Four 'Lanterns' would be cool providing the corps affect. Anybody else would be easy pass. You think the chances improve for more Lanterns if they have to create a unique figure for Hal?

I don't think the four figures will be Lanterns per se. Honestly outside of Hal and Sinestro I don't think you'll get any other Lanterns really, even if they create a new specialized body for Hal, the Lanterns don't wear uniform looks, each one is fairly individualized in the film. So since it has to be retooled either way it isn't as assured as the Predators for example.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

That spoiler isn't accurate really

Sinestro isn't evil in Johns continuity. He is more akin to a dictator, a person who will keep order under any means possible. His Sinestro Corps will kill, torture, destroy, whatever it takes to put order in the galaxy. They aren't the best characters in the universe obviously since they have to be willing to kill but still follow blindly. That kind of mentality puts him at odds with the Green Lantern Corps and Johns/Reis have been threatening a Sinestro: Secret Origins to explain the modern way he went from Green to Yellow, willing to utlitize fear to get his way for about three years now. I have a feeling if this continues to a sequel you'll see that storyline suddenly hit the comics and be the basis for the next film. In the comics he is expelled to Quard, one place where Parallax was once hidden and uses his knowledge of the power ring to get a weaponer to create a yellow ring to combat it. If he just finds the ring it could be more that he had it in his backpocket and that angle would followed more in a sequel.

Nice. Why couldn't they just take the New Frontier story and make that a movie. Is the new DTV GL movie any good Mike?

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

I haven't seen it yet. Honestly, I was a huge fan of First Flight. Literally it came out right after New Frontier which was a Hal oriented origin anyway and while I don't mind owning it, it definitely didn't live up to the hype. Given that this is a Gotham Knights type of thing which I hated, I'm in no hurry to wait.

This last page is full of win thanks to Mike's footer. :rock

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

If the film sucks who cares?, the design is awesome anyway.
It is an awesome design. But unfortunately due to the alleged quality of the film it'll likely be the only figure that comes of the license. It'll be another Watchmen/Tron Legacy/Sucker Punch scenario.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

I never read the comics but got very interested with the trailer and the design. If I love the movie, I'll definitly keep an eye on this new HT licence.

Even if they release just one character (Hal Jordan) or two (Hal and Sinestro), I'll complete my display with the DC movie busts. I don't mind mixing manufacturers.

But for those who want more characters, I hope HT will release them

P.S. : Green Lantern release date for France = August 10th :slap

Ah. No worries, I expect Hal everyone else is optional until I see the film.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

I wonder if this will come out around the time the Blu-ray is released and we'll get a Sideshow gift card, a la T2.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

I would love for Sideshow to do a replica of Abin Sur's ship like they did for the lightcycle and include a GC

How can you count sucker punch in this? Your just speculating.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

Given that the film is currently getting a 24% on Rotten Tomatoes, Hot Toys probably should have waited another week to see how the film did before announcing it as a license; its unfortunately one they probably should have skipped.

What do you mean? The movie is not even out yet and your saying they should have skipped it just cause of reviews? As least you got another week part right geez.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

Why do people like the Green Lantern? The dumb aliens? All the different rainbow colors and fractions of super heroes? He's a stupid superhero. I mean just look at the name, GREEN LANTERN? A green lantern is this guys symbol.

Not a cool ____ing Bat, not a spider, not a big iconic S, nope, a ____ing Lantern. A. Green. Lantern.

If you're not Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Wolverine, uhhh, I guess some of the X-Men you don't deserve to have your own movie.

What's next? HAWKMAN? Give me a break. It's just as baffling as Thor and some of the positive reception it's received.

Some of these guys are no more ridiculous than Howard the ____ing duck.

The day they make a movie that involves the Sub-Mariner is the day imma kill myself.

:monkey3

Seriously though, I've never seen the appeal of the Green Lantern or some other superheroes for that matter. I've tried but I just don't like it for some reason. I did like the Stewart Lantern (aka the black one) from the JL animated show but other than that, I just can't get into it.

Good for you fans though.

Hmmm obviously you have not read a green lantern comic, just the cartoon it sounds like. That's cute. It sounds like you only like the comics book characters that even my grandma could tell your there origin story. No offense but I use to be in the same boat as you. I know if it's not x-men,batman,superman, or spiderman some people have a hard time liking them.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

Posted in Sucker Punch thread. You can search the thread for more specific info. HT figures to produce two characters (yet to be announced) depending on sales. SP seems to be going the route of Watchmen, Tron etc. with incomplete lineup. GL will likely follow suit.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

The difference is there are four major characters is Tron, three of which will not get done even though there are two offerings (I don't count the Lightcycle Sam since it isn't really a figure); there are six major characters in Watchmen with only two done; Sucker Punch there are five major with only two confirmed. If Green Lantern can pull two figures out of this, you can call that pretty much done given that the aliens were a longshot even if the film was Avatar successful, and Blake Lively is better served as a TT model. Hammond would have been good to get and doable since it's just a HS butagain not really anything more than the Scarecrow of the GL universe if I read the reviews correctly.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

Those still wanting rubber suits covering up a TT for their Lantern figs...

DAMN!
I took my Comedian out of the box, where he has been since i moved, and it's leaking oil!!!
The upper back part of the suite is full of it.
One part has even melt a bit and took the form of the hard plastic of the of the harness.
I need to clean it but i dont know how to remove the harness to get acces to the suit and body.
HELP!

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

Wife and are seeing it tomorrow at the Alamo Drafthouse. I'm hoping the critics are wrong. It's happened before. I specifically remember two films in 1982 that got scathing reviews and are now hailed as classics: THE THING and BLADE RUNNER.

5 years later, but add Predator to that list too.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

I don't know anything about the '82 reviews, but I can imagine The Thing and Blade Runner getting negative reviews because they were so unconventional that critics erred on the side of thinking what they weren't familiar with (and couldn't yet understand) wasn't good. GL doesn't strike me as that kind of film based on the trailers. Seems like a pretty conventional comic book action movie that could be assessed on those merits. But maybe I'm wrong.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

Most of the reviews that panned Blade Runner level the same complaints against Green Lantern: style over substance, amazing visual imagery let down by cookie cutter characters, and a pedestrian script that follows formula.

From the trailers and marketing, I do feel like Green Lantern looks like it will be a disappointment, regardless of what critics are saying. On the other hand, I didn't think Thor would be particularly good, and it ended up being my favorite movie of the Summer so far, even ahead of First Class.
