Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

A film's box office is hardly an indication of its quality. Transformers 2 made over 400 million. Are you going to tell me that was a great movie worthy of that amount of money? On the flip side, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World got great reviews, yet tanked horribly at the box office. It must have been a terrible film, and all the critics were wrong, right?

For a film to make that much money, people not only have to go see it, they have to do so repeatedly. Now tell me why you'd go see a movie twice if you despised it? :huh :lol

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

I hope the GL flick is good, but all the previews look like it's another CGI crapfest directed by a hack with ADD.

Mikey Bay, anyone?

:blissysmi

Don't diss Martin Campbell, Casino Royale is one of the best Bond films to date.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

so far the reviews for this movie are looking pretty grim...please don't let this be another Ryan Reynolds superhero disgrace!!

Because it is a well known fact that people are stupid.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

It is. That doesn't make people any less stupid. But we've lost the point. The point was Box Office /= Quality.

Your "quality" is subjective. Many people found that movie quality enough to collectively spend $400,000,000+ at the box office. Dark Knight also made that much. Are the people who saw that multiple times equally stupid? What about Star Wars fans? Same boat? You'd be better arguing the idiocy of people who can't understand the concept of popcorn flicks.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

Why do people like the Green Lantern? The dumb aliens? All the different rainbow colors and fractions of super heroes? He's a stupid superhero. I mean just look at the name, GREEN LANTERN? A green lantern is this guys symbol.

Not a cool ____ing Bat, not a spider, not a big iconic S, nope, a ____ing Lantern. A. Green. Lantern.

If you're not Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Wolverine, uhhh, I guess some of the X-Men you don't deserve to have your own movie.

What's next? HAWKMAN? Give me a break. It's just as baffling as Thor and some of the positive reception it's received.

Some of these guys are no more ridiculous than Howard the ____ing duck.

The day they make a movie that involves the Sub-Mariner is the day imma kill myself.

:monkey3

Seriously though, I've never seen the appeal of the Green Lantern or some other superheroes for that matter. I've tried but I just don't like it for some reason. I did like the Stewart Lantern (aka the black one) from the JL animated show but other than that, I just can't get into it.

Good for you fans though.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

I was afraid of this, saw Thor- LIKED it.. saw X MEN- loved it.. Green Lantern, looked like a CGI alien fest with bad jokey GL punchlines and silly villian. Had a bad feeling...oh well HT at least give us ONE awesome GL figure...

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

Saw GL: Great movie for me..... being a Marvel fan, but to me both Thor and X-Men are meh/so-so....

A good thing for a GL HT figure... GL spends a good amount of time without the mask as GL, all the more likely we will get 2 heads.

Does the mask look any better in the actual film from what was seen in the trailers?

I suppose the Mask is CGI.... part of the ring's power... like green skin around the eyes with additional protrusions obscuring the brows and cheek bones. not much of a disguise, as was pointed out funnily in the movie.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

Usually I'd agree with you both but with so much on HT's plate, I could see them making Hal and then walking no problem.

:exactly: I agree with everything on their plate our expectations may take a beating. Personally, I wold like to see a minimum of two figures per each license but doubt it will happen. I guess:

Superman: The Movie - 1 figure
Green Lantern - 1 figure
Captain America - 1 figure
XFC - 2 figures
Thor - 2 figures
89 Batman - 2 figures

Spiderman and IM will wind down in time for next summers comic flicks when we do it all again.
