Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

Watch them rush out a 1:4 GL line as soon as Enterbay announces it!:cuckoo:

Actually, that'd be pretty hilarious if EB swooped in and saved the day with a GL figure, it'd be good publicity, that's for sure.

sorry to the few who were actually looking forward to this one.

But it'd be so far away, WB would likely have a DC film franchise and JLA almost done by the time they released anything, let alone show a prototype. :lol

Like Nam says, we don't know that this is completely legit yet (though it feels legit to me). And even if it were, I'm sure people would still be interested in mourning the loss and complaining about HT for awhile.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

The way DC has been lately, we might see Batman as a Green Lantern before Hal Jordan gets a sequel.

Well f#€£ you too!

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

You underestimate how popular the Green Lantern character is. There'd have been enough demand just from the comic book readers but I guess crucially perhaps not quite enough to sell the kinds of volumes HT has started producing since CR Supes

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

Sounds like, if this is true, they were trying to go all out on the character and make him light up all over like in the movie and they just couldn't get it to work. BAM! There goes the, "That's cool as |-|ell, I'm buying it!" sales. After that, only the hard core Hal fans are left cause the casual movie fans were a lost cause as soon as they saw that turd of a movie. I can see them backing out if they couldn't get the electronics to work. I didn't like the movie but if HTs could have nailed that luminous look of the suit, I might have bought the fig just because of the design & engineering that went into it.

100% disagree. You could have light-up features identical to Iron Man and they still would've gotten the "that's cool as hell!" audience. All the "technology" they need was already produced by them. The whole figure didn't need to light up, just the chest and ring hand. Another reason why I'm thinking this might just be BS.

Backing out cause of a turd of a movie?
I turn your attention to every single POS Alien / Predator movie made after 1987.
Not having a go at you, just irritated. Sorry in advance.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

To my eyes, the GL character designs just don't have the aesthetic appeal of an Iron Man. I personally wouldn't even consider a figure from this movie if it wasn't a DC character that I liked as a kid. The movie stunk and the characters don't look all that great, but I would have bought it because it was Green Lantern. I think there are others in that boat, but many more who feel the same way minus having an interest in the property/comic character. I think that's one difference with the AvP characters--the consensus among geek collectors is that they look cool, even if their movies were vomit-inducing.

Three things were cleared up here:

1. It WAS the body that was ____ing things up for HT. They were trying to figure out how to do the suit and in the end said ____ it.

2. Nowhere in the quotes did it say it was because the film tanked. It would be nice if it did because that would be more comforting than number three which is:

3. HT will just give up. Instead of putting out a figure that didn't light up, or that had translucent pieces like we've seen with their "hologram" pack-ins, HT figured they have enough on their schedule and said ____ it. Nowhere did it say "The movie tanked, who gives a ____" in reality they said that they feel sorry for fans who are still waiting. So, HT did something they have never done which is to just give up and walk away. I guarantee it's less to do with the box office and more to do with the fact they went license crazy and have too much on their plate and don't feel this is worth continuing the R&D, especially since in the same statement they announced three newer licenses unofficially. A license announcement is no longer a guarantee on figures being made. That is shocking.
