I wouldn't mind a sequel because then we will get what we should of gotten in the first place.....Green Lantern VS Sinestro

This film for as good as it was (to me anyways) should get a sequel. I think more of the haters would come around.

I would love a sequel because the stars are aligned for it. You have perfect casting in Sinestro, you have the groundwork laid for his yellow ring. You have Martin Campbell out already so you'd have a new fresh perspective already. You have Geoff Johns already working on treatments for The Flash (he didn't work on any of Green Lantern he was a consultant) which gives a current writer on the books to take a crack at the films, which is what worked for Thor. The sequel has a chance to eclipse the first one similarly to what we saw with Spider-Man 2.

If Green Lantern had been released 10 years ago people would have gone ape____ for it. Due to the fact that comic book films have upped their game in that time and this feels very formulaic and like a film from back then, it overall hurts the film because people's expectations are already so high. The sequel has a great opportunity ahead of it if Warners allows it to.

Most analysts expected the latest DC/WB comic book adaptation to rake in between $50-55m for the weekend, and that’s exactly where it fell, right smack dab in the middle of that range, in fact. Though that’s not a stunning haul for a film that cost this much, it does fit it in rather nicely with the other DC/WB properties’ opening weekends.

In fact, Green Lantern comes in at #4 on opening weekends chart for DC/WB behind The Dark Knight ($158.4m opening weekend), Watchmen ($55.2m opening weekend), and Batman Forever ($52.7m opening weekend). To put that in context, Green Lantern had a bigger opening this weekend than any of the Superman films and four of the big Batman films.

From a novice Lantern fan and a Marvel fanboy, I agree a sequel is in order. The movie and character has tons of potential. Thanks to 'The Mike' for turning me on to GL. I been trying to get all the Lantern GN the library has to offer. GL is giving Bats a run for my favorite DC character.

Saw it at a noon matinee on father's day and the theater was pretty packed, first time I've had to sit in the first 10 rows of a large theater in a long time (though I rarely go to opening weekends).

I'm a big DC fan and I had a bit of chills watching the opening scenes just because it's Green Lantern, not Superman not Batman but GL, I'm still a bit shocked that a GL movie got made, a few years back I'd never have even given it a second thought.

I really didn't see all the major hits it's getting from the critics, it was a good summer popcorn flick, the acting was good for the most part, I didn't mind Blake Lively at all, Reynolds looked the part and I thought he did a good job of keeping it light when he needed and being more serious when he needed. The CGI looked good and the movie kept me entertained and engaged. I thought the ending was a bit rushed and I would have liked to seen more of OA and the corps but it was first and formost a Hal Jordan GL movie.

I liked it more than Thor, which at least for me felt flat. I liked it as much as Xmen first class, but I also think they are very different superhero movies.

I really hope they make a sequal.

Good review.

I haven't bumped into many people that didn't like it.

It was a fun movie.

I left wanting more, that's sign for me that it was a success.

For some, wanting more is a sign of failure :dunno

I hope for WB/DC sake and ours that it makes a profit from the combined Domestic, International, Ancillary and DVD-Cable-Internet sales.

Why...

Because I want Green Lantern 2: Electric Boogaloo, that's why ::yess:

It was Reynolds. He wore a Mo-Cap suit through the whole thing:

As did Strong and Morrison. It was noted though that in some scenes, Reynolds torso was elongated to look "more heroic".

Believe it or not it was cheaper than having the suit designed and then having a ton made for backups. Although looking at the CGI it reminded me a lot of Nite Owl II's suit from Watchmen in terms of textural reference.

Going to try and see this again sometime this week. Definitely enjoyed it enough for a second viewing. Maybe I'll test out the 3D version this time. Then again, maybe not. 3D is so damn dark, dim, and disorientating.
