So it's basically Monsters vs Aliens but switching out the Aliens for Zords?

It's basically Neon Genesis live action but seriously though if you have seen that anime it seems like this movie was heavily influence by Neon Genesis and that is a great great thing.

Having read quite a recent script, this is a people story first, rock em' sock em' bots beating on monsters story second.

Make no mistake, it's it's own mecha/kaiju movie with nothing to do with any of the other series' other than having people, giant monster and giant mecha. Hit of 2013 imo.

Seriously. If anyone has watched these "behind-the-scenes" interviews with Del Toro, you can clearly tell that he's not making this movie based on any single mecha franchise. It's just based on the genre as a whole. He really wants this to be his own, unique franchise in the mecha/kaiju genre.

Ok so it might not be based on NGE, but you can't tell me it has nothing in common with NGE. I agree their are plenty of other shows about giant robots vs monsters. I never once ****ing said their wasn't. I think the reason why us NGE fans are saying that is because this is the closest thing that we will ever get to seeing a NGE live action. Therefore we are ****ing happy. Its one thing to jump down my throat if I was talking **** about this movie, but I'm happy its being made. I think it looks incredible. I love del Toro so I think he is a perfect fit.

I also never said this movie said anything about being inspired by NGE. I said it seems like it was influenced never said that as fact, but you can't tell me that this doesn't give you any sort of NGE vibe when you see the trailer. Big monsters coming down and man makes giant robots that are operated by humans to fight the monsters? Sounds alot like NGE to me. Sure i'm sure alot of shows have that in it, but doesn't mean I'm wrong about the fact that it gives me a NGE vibe.

Well I'm sure you have noticed, but a lot of NGE fans are total *********s. They think they stand higher on a pedestal and are smarter than anyone who doesn't enjoy NGE. It does have elements of NGE. Being linked to the machine and that liquid stuff in there helmets.

Btw anybody who thinks anime is garbage clearly hasn't seen enough of it. Most anime is an art form. Yea you have the cliche monster catcher and school girl anime but that's not all anime.
