So if Luke and Han are the same height, why is Sideshow vid not showing that? What is going on with this dulpicity?

Sideshow: try some honesty with your presentations. Saw the email and pics with Luke being the same height - now, i gotta customize my $200 item to 'fix' him

Dude, off to bed - I am pretty pissed off right now....

Maybe someone from Sideshow would like to chime in and cool the height fire down with some facts.....

Someone speculated that Luke simply looks shorter because of slightly-bent knees and the fact that he is behind Han in the video.

We have the facts... I posted the quote directly from the chat with Brant in this very thread.

Here it is again:

SideshowBrant: Rich - Luke is on the same body as Han. We did look at different options for reducing the height, but the necessary body & armor modifications weren't possible in the timeframe and budget for the project.

That does suck! Couldn't do it within the time frame, so they rushed a shoddy job....and couldn't do it within the budge for the project....THEY COST THE SAME AS A BRAND NEW 12", IT'S NOT LIKE WE ARE GETTING A DISCOUNT! For the very first time....Sideshow has deeply disappointed me.....:banghead

Thanks! :duff

But, you're right... if it's that simple then Sideshow really should have done right and made the height difference come in-box. Especially for $200. :tap

Yeah, that's why I'm not buying the "not enough time/budget" excuse that was barfed out over chat. I can't fathom how it would be too expensive to resize a tiny 1" barbell and have 2000 made when essentially, other than the headsculpts and helmets, the figures are just basic rehashes of an existing figure. The cost would've balanced out with losing the extra abdominal piece, but hell, I would gladly have paid the extra $5 for that! :lol

I guess we could always have Leia change her line from:

"Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper?"
to
"Aren't you a little tall to be screen accurate?"

AHHHH I didn't even think of that! "Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper?" So now the answer is "Ummm...No..."

And yea...I think it's really wrong of Sideshow to use a forced perspective picture to make it look like Luke was shorter. They got caught! I think someone at sideshow really owes us a big explaination of how such a simple fix got past Lucasfilm approval and why they couldn't just wait and do the job right instead of screwing up this bad. Maybe there is a good reason but "just so we would have it ready in time for ComicCon" isn't acceptable. I would rather have an earlybird "IOU" like Kenner did in 1977 and have Sideshow take the time to get them right!

actually, the correct answer would be, "Ummm, thanks to Sideshow dropping the ball and cheaping out on such a necessary and easy modification for Han and Luke in Stormtrooper disguise to really work, I can say.... NOPE!"

It really is a shame. It's like they didn't really even try. :(

I am taking deep breaths.........man, to cut corners on a Luke fig that everyone is dying to get.....argh....deep breaths....

wow, I am disappointed Sideshow! I love you guys (and gals), but this was not cool!!!! :emperor:emperor:emperor:emperor:emperor

The size thing isn't a deal breaker for me. I need these heads and the belts and the helmet detail is too nice to miss.

Yeah, that would be the guy(s) who sets up and takes the photos. :lol Honestlly, whoever approved them should've looked at them and really had them redone. From early shots, anyone not critiquing the hell out of the photos would've assumed they were different heights. While perfectly legal, it's morally wrong and shameless. I wonder if LFL was duped on the height perspectives like most of us were.

You're sig is especially appropriate for this thread. In fact, didn't it come from this thread?

It's more the BS that was fed. If you knew how easy the modification was, I think you'd be questioning how come it wasn't done. It's like Jedi Luke without the gloved hand, or Han without his blaster, but 1000x easier to produce.

Not really, if I feel it was done on the cheap then I don't buy it, and though I may be disappointed, I don't think I've ever gotten angry over it.

Well, look at this picture

Luke is in front of Han by just a bit, and he still looks shorter. I know it's not up for debate anymore that he IS shorter, but there's no bent legs and he's not behind Han for forced perspective, so how did they accomplish that??
