I would have liked to have seen more of the sky battle. Would have been cool.
other than that I'm totally happy with it.

I must say, I'm disappointed. I felt like we saw way too much of Harry, Ron, and Hermione (didn't think you could say that about main characters) and not enough of the rest of the cast. I got bored looking at the same faces while they camped throughout England for an hour and a half. The first 30 minutes were fairly good, but after that, I lost interest and patience with one of my most favorite franchises.

That's exactly how I feel.

I am with you as well, on that. I wanted to see so much more of it.

Same Here. I still enjoyed the movie. But I was like lets go already. I haven't read the books, but Part 2 better blow me away.

So let me get this strait.. in the book which has the first half almost exclusively tied up camping... an evntuality in the movie adaption we have talked about and accepted long ago in this very thread... some people were taken a back that so much of the movie portrayed them camping? :lol

Camping might be OK for the book, but it does not translate well to film. LOTR was different as not only did they have many different obstacles to cross, they also had Gollum with them. However I did find the movie very atmospheric, even in the camping scenes. I just think they could have held back some of that stuff for an extended Blu-Ray/DVD, and given us more of the broom chase.

It was torture reading trough that ..it was just as boring reading that part of the story as it was seeing it in the film.

..but it was really good overall imo, but some scenes ended so quickly it was weird.

Did you read the book? It didn't work terribly well there either. :panic:

I keep calling Dumboldore, Gandalf. Everytime I discuss the movie with someone I screw it up.

I saw this today in IMAX. No need to see it in IMAX, except that the time was more convenient.

Having read the entire series, I have been pretty much disappointed with the past 2 Potter movies. They felt rushed and incomplete. However, I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I thought it was very good, and intended for a more mature audience; I wouldn't take the kiddies to see this film.

I really enjoyed the deathly Hallows animation story with Hermoine's narration. I'd like to see just that part again.

Thought it was borning, like the last one.

Why didn't he use a water heating spell when he jumped in after the sword?? Newb. . .

The animated story was well done though.

I thought it was great. Well adapted from the book and the camping didn't really bother me. It's part of the story and I knew that going in.

I have to confess I have never read any of the books.
I love the LOTR books, but I was glad to see Bombadil was cut out of the movie, and that the shire scenes were cut down for the movie. Harry Potter should have taken note. I guess this is the worry I have for the Hobbit. Will it become drawn out too much just so it can be two movies?

No, Harry Potter should not have taken note. Bombadil was one chapter that didn't even really fit into the story.

In Potter there is way too much talked about and plotline details in the camping parts ( book ). Where they made the mistake was leaving much of that out in the movie during the camping, but they did the best they could in a 2.5 hour movie.

Also, there will be a LOT of action in the next film that would have had the be SERIOUSLY cut down if all was squeezed into ONE film.

I think most Potter fans will be very grateful for Part 1 once Part 2 is allowed to take the time needed for the final battle instead of rushing it.
