I must say, I'm disappointed. I felt like we saw way too much of Harry, Ron, and Hermione (didn't think you could say that about main characters) and not enough of the rest of the cast. I got bored looking at the same faces while they camped throughout England for an hour and a half. The first 30 minutes were fairly good, but after that, I lost interest and patience with one of my most favorite franchises.
other than that I'm totally happy with it.

So let me get this strait.. in the book which has the first half almost exclusively tied up camping... an evntuality in the movie adaption we have talked about and accepted long ago in this very thread... some people were taken a back that so much of the movie portrayed them camping?
Camping might be OK for the book, but it does not translate well to film. LOTR was different as not only did they have many different obstacles to cross, they also had Gollum with them. However I did find the movie very atmospheric, even in the camping scenes. I just think they could have held back some of that stuff for an extended Blu-Ray/DVD, and given us more of the broom chase.

Never read the novels, bar the first one.
Did you read the book? It didn't work terribly well there either.
I have to confess I have never read any of the books.
I love the LOTR books, but I was glad to see Bombadil was cut out of the movie, and that the shire scenes were cut down for the movie. Harry Potter should have taken note. I guess this is the worry I have for the Hobbit. Will it become drawn out too much just so it can be two movies?
