I've not read the books and didn't really become all that interested in the movies until I ended up working on two of them.

The last one in the series I still haven't seen yet sadly, and at this rate I probably won't get to see it until the last one is out.

I'm sure they'll be terrific fun.

The way the final confrontation is written in the book would feel very anti-climactic on screen. I am glad they are beefing things up a bit.

Seems like it's now set in the ruins of Hogwarts (no spoiler, it's in the trailer) - which is much more appropriate I think.

Without going into Spoilers, in the books, more so than the films, Snape is the Badarse right-hand man of Dumbledore's. He just takes it all from everyone but gets on with the job and is one of this saga's greatest heroes!

As awesome as Alan Rickman is in everything he does... When I'm reading the books I was think of Michael Wincott as Snape.

Is that the prison warden from The Count of Monte Cristo? He was a mean dude and I agree, he would have been a great choice as Snape.

That happens in the book, too.

Actually, (and i'm not sure if this spoils anything for anyone, so i'll "spoiler box" it just in case...)
their confrontation in the book is set in the Great Hall, not in the ruins outside of the castle like the trailer shows.

I, for one, will welcome the change in scenery for the harry/voldemort confrontation. It does seem more appropriate, like Darklord Dave says.

Right.

I thought it was actually the ruins of the Great Hall in the trailer. :p

Looks like there is no crowd of onlookers, at least not yet.

I wonder when the Molly vs Bellatrix scene takes place (if at all )? Earlier I'm sure.

The fight looks even more personal now.

I am so tempted to hit all the spoiler tags but since I haven't finished the books, I cant. I am on OOTP and I get about 200 pages in per day. I finished GOF early yesterday morning and then got 8 chapters in of OOTP. So I'm trying to go as quickly as I can. I MUST know everything. Luckily I know about all the deaths so that my heart isn't extra crushed.

Looks like the ruins of the Great Hall to me. Someone needs to do a screen capture comparison.

Someone put a call into the Star Wars or GIJOE section, stat! :lecture

If you're referring to the Molly/Bellatrix fight... yeah, i'm pretty sure from what the trailer shows, that it's going to remain in the Great Hall.

If you're referring to the Harry/Voldemort fight... unless the Great Hall had the wall completely blown out in the movie, then, no, it seems they moved that outside.

I do hope they highlight some of the other characters during the Battle of Hogwarts. I would love to see the professors, order members and students fighting, as opposed to just mostly harry trying to get through everything to get to voldemort. For instance, I want to see McGonagall kicking ass! :D

Sorry to tempt you. :lol

Pretty sure in the final duel it talks about the sun rising just as he kills Voldemort and it doesn't seem to be done per the normal way (ie the ceiling which magically projects the sky), but as if the walls had been blown down.

no temptation at all, i know what happens, lol :lol

i guess we'll just all have to wait until the movie, because who knows what they could have changed time-wise in the film. Looking at the trailer,
they seem to stick close to the book by starting it at night, but they may have chosen to pass time faster in the movie and make the harry/voldemort confrontation at a brighter part of the morning... for filming purposes, it could have been a decision so they didn't have to do a ridiculous amount of lighting.

:dunno

I think you mean me. But I am actually not feeling so bad about it. I am glad I still have some time before I know. I'm still enjoying the world as it unfolds.

Guessing he meant me dear.

I'm suprised I have stayed interested in these movies throughout all the years. The last one looks pretty great to put an end to a great series.

Well you both live in the same house and are so lovey-dovey I assumed you read it together. :inlove :lol
