Out of curiousity, in what scenes did you see this?

I read the books a while ago so I might've missed it. But even my boyfriend who finished the second book this week was pretty surprised to see Renly and Loras portrayed as gay lovers. We never thought that they were lovers.

Most of the clues are in book 2 and 3, with the strongest hints in book 3. This line, spoken to Loras during a confrontation, would strongly suggest that they were lovers (not really any spoilers here since the line is out of context, but I'll spoiler tag it anyway):

"Now sheathe your bloody sword, or I'll take it from you and shove it up some place even Renly never found."

There are many other little lines like this one throughout. Credit goes to a FAQ I found which addresses a lot of questions about the book series and the Renly/Loras relationship was one of them.

Thanks. I did a bit of research of the Renly/Loras relationship and you're right - there were quite a few hints that these two were lovers.

Anyways, looking forward to the next episode.

Another great episode tonight. There's never a dull moment.

And thank you HBO for not including Time Warner in the HBO GO service so I can't watch next week's episode now.

:lecture I understand HBO unwillingness to include TWC since they sux but I now have to wait a week. :gah:

Another great episode. I thought the woods scene was stronger in the book with the inclusion of the wolves, but everything with Tyrion and Dany was great tonight.

This series is so good...I'm holding off on reading the book(s) because I enjoy being surprised each episode...

And Episode 7 was incredible...but the blade cuts the other way as well...have to wait two weeks to see Episode 8!

"He was no dragon. Fire cannot burn a dragon."

The way Dany said that almost sent shivers down my spine. Is it just me or does Dany seem more dragon-obsessed in the series than in the books?

Anyways, episode 6 was awesome. So many good bits, especially with Dany and Tyrion.

Question for those who have read the books...

Is there magic in the world? Obviously it's a fantasy setting where winter can last for years and there are creatures such as dire wolves (a fantasy staple), and though we haven't seen them yet, shadowcats...as well as the numerous mentions of dragons. But in Episode 7....Second spoiler for those that have not seen Episode 7....

Sam mentions to John that he "wanted to be a wizard". Up to this point there has been no mention of magic or sorcery in the series. Is it prevalent in the book.

And I have to say it again, Episode 7 was fantastic. Anybody else see it yet?

I broke down - as I figured I would - and watched episode 7. Man, what a fantastic episode! The crap really hits the fan, and I suspect the last 5 episodes are going to be mighty bloody.

And if anyone doubted Drogo's ability to play Conan (actually, his ability to act), just wait til you see him in the next episode. He gives a speech that gave me goose bumps.

Why were you holding off on watching Episode 7, if i may ask?

And that was an incredible scene. Very well acted and he was very charismatic. I believe it's harder to emote and do a scene in a made up language as well.

And there are 12 episodes in this season? Whew. For some reason I thought there was only ten.

There is magic in the world, though it's presence and impact has lessened significantly since the last of the dragons died hundreds of years prior to the current age. The White Walkers are definitely supernatural in nature as they can raise the dead, and more magic does appear in the other books, but I won't spoil how or in what form. As for Sam saying he wanted to be a wizard, I'm guessing that was just the dream of a little boy obsessed with old tales (though I haven't seen episode 7 so I don't know the context of the line). There haven't been any stereotypical wizard types in the books, so we won't be seeing lightning bolts and fireballs anytime soon.

Thanks, Silentman.

I grew up reading fantasy books, but stopped in my early 20's. I want to read this series but I like not knowing what will happen next.

Off tangent, the LOTR films were obviouslyfantastic and both a commercial and critical success but it would have been interesting to see what could have been done with a long maxi series ala Game of Thrones.

Sadly, there are only ten episodes this season. Two additional hours of Game of Thrones would have been awesome, but alas...

Dammit! Michael Crawford, why did you raise my hopes? :lol

After episode 6 I was so ready to watch 7. Oh, well...

Watched episode 6 with my wife and some friends, they've been watching it since the beginning but kept asking me whats going to happen since I've read the first book. I've been pretty good at not giving stuff away but they finally broke me down and to say the least they were not pleased :(

I can now see what Wofford was talking about earlier, those with limited knowledge or no knowledge of the books is going to be disappointed in the loss of characters.

That said it's going to be a crazy wait for two weeks for episode 8.
