Hands down the most frightening thing I've seen in a show and the most shocking moment ever. I just watched it again and the whole buildup is just so tense and then when it happens it hits you hard.

I don't think that definition works. I think she is actually an outlaw. Daenerys Targaryen is not a citizen of any nation but has proclaimed herself to be Queen of Westeros. She abides by no laws of Kings Landing or any other kingdom. It is her intention to overthrow whatever King she finds sitting on the Iron Thrown and claim it.

She operates by a code of morality, but not by the letter of anyone's law.

She is neither lawful nor evil. Perhaps the term 'revolutionary' best applies to her.

Then she is "lawful" in ther terms by which I'm talking about. REad my earlier post for a more in depth breakdown of what being "Lawful " means in the context that Pix and myself were using them.

For the record, I'm a 20 Year Dungeons and dragons veteran my friend, The alighnment system is something I'm VERY VERY familior with, and it's something that people frequently misunderstand.

Oh ****, back the **** up!

Disagree. Remember he took Rickard Karstarks head even if it wasn't in his best interest because it was the "right" thing to do. Very Ned Stark.

Also disagree.

Karstark as stated.

He showed the Lannister cousin used as a messenger to King's Landing respect, and was concerned he be well cared for upon his return.

He kept Roose Bolton on the leash, admonishing him against torturing prisoners

He let Talisa treat the Lannister wounded (at a cost amongst his own supporters)

In general, he acted with honor to the best of his ability, but he was a young man, and stumbled when presented with Talisa in not putting honor first on that particular occasion. There was obviously a high price to be paid for one critical misstep, which I think was the actual point of the event.

The remaining Starks need to disappear or get more ruthless. And Tyrion should join them. He doesn't belong with the Lannisters.

And thanks to all who responded to my post looking for assurance that those deserving of death will get it at some point.

I dont read the books nor want to read any spoilers about them, but shouldnt the House Stark now fall under the control of Tyrion (as husband to the eldest heir, Sansa)?

I think House Stark is out of the picture at this point in terms of political power and influence. Winterfell has been destroyed, Eddard and Catelyn and Robb are dead and the remaining children are scattered and missing or believed dead. I would imagine that Tywin's first order of business will be to promote somebody and grant them title and land in the north, just like he gave Harrenhal to Littlefinger after Blackwater. You wipe out your enemies and repay your allies with positions of power and influence in previously contested areas. Occupying the north with Lannister forces and allies will kill whatever might be left of the rebellion. The north is really up for grabs at this point, and I don't think Tywin is the type to ignore that for very long.

Politically, I don't think it matters any more whether or not the Stark kids are out there, because the house is so shattered that nobody is going to give their allegiance at this point. It wouldn't surprise me if Tyrion gets sent there with Sansa, as there were hints that Tywin would give him an appropriate home at some point. That would put a Lannister in the north along with a surviving Stark, which just might be enough to satisfy any of the northerners who still have some loyalty to the Stark name.

Tywin really knows what he's doing.

Good theories! :lecture:exactly::goodpost:

Did anyone else think the blood noises and spraying from the slit throats were a bit much? If it wasn't for the great acting and emotionally charged subject matter I would have thought it was comical.

And you wouldn't die immediately either.

I felt that way, too. The neck slices were not deep enough to elicit such blood flow. If the cuts had been deeper, I'd say yes, but they were very shallow for that amount of blood. Neither of them would've dropped dead, either. They more than likely would've freaked out and tried to cover their wound with their hands, and over the next few minutes, passed out from lack of blood. I suppose a more plausible explanation is that both victims simply fainted, never to awaken.

Oh well. Still beautifully done, in my opinion. :p

Catelyn was dead before her throat was slit. She was past the point of freaking out about anything.

Oh, I agree. I'm speaking in more of a realistic scenario. If someone slit yours or my throat the way her's or Lord Frey's young wife's was, we'd be alive for quite some time.
