To be honest, I've felt like most of their real season finales are the 9th episodes of the season (Ned's Dead, Blackwater, Red Wedding) with the real finale dealing with the immediate aftermath of the big WTF moment the 9th episodes have. I hope that changes next season because they are becoming predictable to even non-book viewers.

That's pretty spot on. It makes sense that they do this because you have to show what happened after you go big the episode before.

Non-reader but it appears to me the major plots are at a point where the show could jump forward six months to a year when it returns, the one exception being the wildling storyline.

I'm convinced (like i was that SH would be the ending of series 3! :lol ) that Dany will NEVER get home. She's too important to too many people in Essos. What has she ever done for the people of Westeros? Or they for her?
Maybe she'll ride in on her dragons to fight the white walkers, but my bet is she claims all of Essos AND all of a war-ravaged and broken Westeros as hers and becomes queen of all, stays in Essos and says '***** you' to Kings Landing and the iron throne.

It's an interesting theory. I also don't see her totally abandoning Essos.

I often wonder if instead of retaking Westeros, she instead gets even more ambitious and decides rather than reconquering Westeros, to instead to try and reform the Valerian Freehold in some form?

I've thought of this before. She'll unite the world. No way she'll abandon Meereen under any circumstance.

So as we're so convinced with Dany, she'll probably die in the next book :lol

But there has to a POINT to all of her journeying. If it was to come home to Westeros, what's taking her so long?

Or....

In the latest book we're introduced to another Targaryen that Varys is grooming for kingdom.... so he has to have a part to play too.... so, maybe a king in Westeros and a queen in Essos? A true Targaryen dynasty?

Three Targaryens (Jon being the highly speculated third) and a three headed dragon as the Targaryen house sigil? Too coincidental. Almost like a prophecy. You almost forget that this series was about the Stark family.

welll...

Book readers who are up tp date do know that Aegon Targaryen lives, So joJohn Being one WOULD make the three headed dragon complete.

Any hard proof of this? That would be kinda awesome.

I'm still not to the red wedding in sword of storms & I'm almost 500 pages in

The books are BEASTS! After you see just how long they are, you can almost understand why it takes him a decade to write one :lol

Maybe GRRM will get hit by van and realize he needs to get his butt into high gear and finish the series like Stephen King did with the Dark Tower series.

Isn't he almost done book 6?

I think he's in serious editing mode. I've read somewhere he has somewhere around 1500 pages per book? :lol

Which doesn't really mean much but that's a lot.

That's even if he is a real Targaryen. There is speculation that he is a Blackfyre and that Vary's himself is one too. Remember that Bittersteel swore that he would put a BLackfyre on the Iron Throne. And keep in mind that Bittersteel started the Gold Company who has pled allegience to Aegon. It will also explain why Vary's has such a stake in everything in Westeros when he is a foreigner. This may also explain the story Varys told Tyrion about how he was cut. His gentals were cut off and put in brazier and the some words were said over them. Some thing or one answered. Some sort of blood magic ritual that needed a kings blood no matter how bastardized?? Just a theory..

But then again there is the three headed dragon prophecy...so I dunno.

Edit: Just remembered. Some people think Tyrion may be a secret Targ. So there is that..I think it's nonsense though.

Everything after Wizard and Glass was weak. Only saved by the great epilogue of book seven.
