Drogo had the most crappy death ever. I excepted him to go out fighting, I really don't want to hear how the author likes to go against the grain and give us the unexpected, I mean I can appreciate that from certain aspects but in others I cannot. Either way, great first season and I cannot wait for season 2.

Am I the only one that really has no interest in Conan's wife's storyline? The entire season when it cut to her I was just wondering about what was going on across the sea. The guy protecting her was the only one in the storyline I was interested in.

I am with you. Now that he is dead, I really do not care for her storyline. The dragon stuff is pretty sweet and when she discovered she had the blood of the dragon that was badass but I miss Drogo.

I wasn't talking about Drogo. He didn't interest me either. I was talking about the white guy that was her protector. I don't even remember his name.

I'm still interested in her storyline, but hated seeing

Drago go out like R.P. McMurphy.

she didn't discover it, she knew it for a while.

And what's up with Cersei also banging that other lannister? She really keeps it in the family eh? Maybe I'm missed it but how was related? I'm surprised They didn't seem to care how horrible Robert treated him. Is the Knight of Flowers in it again? I kind of liked him, haha. sorry for the questions...Really pumped for season 2.

Did she not discover it a couple episodes back when she tried to burn her self and felt no pain and got no scars? I am under the assumption she did not truly know about it until then.

I think we have a misunderstanding, I thought you meant she discovered it in tonight's episode.

Season finale was alright. Wasn't blown away by it thats for sure but will go to the panel, read the books, and see where I feel going into season 2. The dragon part was cool that's for sure.

Here there be dragons... This is why when this series pays off, it pays off in the most uber cool and righteous ways possible. Best damn show on television for my money as it just supplanted Fringe as my favorite (with Doctor Who trailing a bit behind). Spring 2012 and A Clash of Kings cannot get here too soon. I NEED IT, NOW!!!

Drogo's death was due to his own arrogance and to Dany's foolishness in trusting the maegi. While I was disappointed he died, I certainly wouldn't want him to die in battle - no man can beat Drogo. To have him killed by another man would have been even more disappointing. If he had to die (and he did, just like Ned did, to get the story going in this direction), then to have it be by Dany's hand, because she couldn't let him live like that, seems fitting.

They seemed to get all the key points across in the final episode, and they did something I suspected we'd see more of next year. The scene with Lancel and Cersei is information we don't get until midway through the second book, yet they pulled it forward in time for us. I'm betting that while the series will remain true to the overall books, that key story points will get pulled in next year from book 3 and even book 4.

There were some added scenes that worked well - Cat going to see Jaime, the Lancel/Cersei scene, seems like there were at least 2 more that weren't in the books too, but I'm blanking right now. They did alter some of the pacing and dialog in the key scenes as well, but it all worked for me. For example, I don't remember Theon going quite that overboard in the books when Robb was named King of the North...but it works.

I asked my wife when Gendry came on screen if she recognized who he was, and she called it immediately, so that was good as well. They didn't have to beat you over the head with the fact that he was traveling to the wall with Arrya. I am kind of wondering about the set up though with the three prisioners that are traveling with them as well. They didn't show the one's face at all (looked like a bag was over his head?), so I'm wondering if that:

is some sort of indication that he really is supposed to be Syrio in the books. Lots of speculation on that over the years, but nothing that has been concrete in the books, but perhaps Martin told them on the show that he is, and they figured they'd play with that next year.

And I thought the CGI on the dragons was great, better than I had expected. Can't wait til next spring 2012!

I don't think it's that you have an opinion - it's what the opinion is :D You said it was underwhelming, and I can see where someone might find that funny, considering there was the death of two important characters to the current storyline, Drogo and his son, that completely alters the direction that part of the show was taking, another character is named 'king of the north', freakin' dragons show up, and the most important event of the night - Tyrion is named Hand of the King. Tyrion, one of the coolest characters on the show, may not be large, but he's now in charge. He has to go back to King's Landing and deal with all those people we've been hating - and he's smart enough to know how to do it. I can't wait to see how this plays out next season!

BTW, I don't remember the Varys/Petyr conversation in the book, but I loved it. So well acted and directed, and another well done added scene was with Master Pycelle and the hooker, where he shows how he is clearly feigning just how decrepit he is. Great stuff!

Best series on TV... its gonna be a long wait for season 2 :monkey2 At least I have True Blood and Boardwalk Empire to fill the gap.

Really enjoyed how the finale hinted at or started to show all the things I was hoping we'd see. Like Batty my only complaint was that it was a short season, but I'd rather have 10 tight well done episodes instead of extra filler ones.

Don't get me wrong, great show even if I do not agree with some of the direction. The problem I am having though is I have not gotten attached to the characters yet or as fast as others. I have not really related with anyone current for my to 100% care what happens yet. Maybe it is my fault, maybe it is the fault of the show. So for those things to happen that you mentioned, while cool and game changing do not mean much to me yet because I have not attached myself to those characters or how they will affect others.

The finale, for me did not have enough "oh ____" moments for me to consider it a great season finale or fall in line with some other shows. For example, regardless of the genre, following are season 1 finales I found much better because of either the twists, how the stories changed or the character development:

LOST
The Shield
Breaking Bad
Rome
Deadwood
Boardwalk Empire

Deadwood might be a stretch. You could argue that those shows had less characters but LOST had a pretty decent amount of characters they were throwing around. For me this finale just did not reach what those other shows first season finales did.

Again, I like the show, just was not impressed with the finale as much.
