Just bought the books - I'll be reading those while I wait for season 2. I am so thankful that True Blood starts next week...or I would be seriously bummed that this season is over already.

You should - although as a knight he bested both Jaime and the Mountain, so you best not be laughing where he can hear you :D

Great setup for next season, a little underwhelming finale though.

That's how I felt at first...until I ruminated on the season finale. Great set up for next season, and I can't wait to re-watched this episode (as well as have a GOT marathon to re-watch the entire series).

Did she not discover it a couple episodes back when she tried to burn her self and felt no pain and got no scars? I am under the assumption she did not truly know about it until then.

They also threw in a subtle hint back in episode one - Danerys stepped in the bath with the scalding water and showed no reaction.

Well, since the series has finished, I've started reading the first novel. Some minor changes I've noticed from the series thus far, but nothing major that screams out to me (only 200 pages or so in right now).

So I'm assuming they keep the Game of Thrones title for season two? It would be a nice nod to the book to name the series A Clash of Kings, but I guess that would be a terrible marketing move as far as the uninformed masses.

Series 2 should be called 'Clash of Kings', i think Martin 'hinted' at it. If they're just gonna call it Game of Thrones series 2, 3 etc, they should have just called it what the book series is called - A Song of Ice and Fire. But, as Robert would say, 'titles titles titles....'

I think people are looking for a little too much from the finale... they're only going by the book, literally. And in the book, Ned's death was the real 'oh sh**' moment and the ending was all the reactions and the birth of the dragons, so maybe they should have held off Ned's death until the final episode, as well as announcing Robb as King in the North at the end of the episode.
I implore you all, :read

Another note - the finale was really a setup for the second series. We're all talking about not being able to wait for series 2, and that's because every characters storylines were left on a good cliffhanger. How much would we be looking forward to a second series if everything we wanted to be resolved WAS resolved?

I am glad that it wasn't an epic all-guns-blazin' season finale. Shows that do that (Doctor Who, for example) just end up painting themselves into a corner. It left enough to make me want to read the books and wait patiently for the next season...

When is the next season? :dunno

is true blood like twilight? because i avoided twilight, and will avoid true blood if it is.

Oh no. True Blood is freaking awesome. Great Characters and interesting stories set in a world where there are Vampires, Werewolves, witches, etc.

Spring 2012 is so far away!! I want more, darnit!

I really enjoyed the finale, especially the scenes with Dany and the dragons, Sansa and Joffrey and Jon with his 'brothers'.

Am I the only one that really has no interest in Conan's wife's storyline? The entire season when it cut to her I was just wondering about what was going on across the sea. The guy protecting her was the only one in the storyline I was interested in.

For me she has slowly become one of my favourite characters

That's what's different about Game of Thrones, I find myself rooting for somebody in nearly every faction.

Jon Snow of the Night Watch
Daenerys Targaryen
Tyrion Lannister
Eddard Stark, and now he's gone, Arya and Bran. Robb Stark is growing on me, but he was in the shadows for most of the Season.

True Blood is pretty bad, I stopped watching it. At least Curb is coming back soon.

I just finished Deadwood and will start Game of Thrones today. I watched the first 3 episodes but then stopped to finish Deadwood uninterrupted, so now I'll go back and do the same for this.

no not really but the two main characters they have a love story going on
not anywhere near twlight in terms of being flat out stupid.
