In a word--BRILLIANT!!! I called up my cable company this afternoon and told'em to add HBO just for Thrones. No more torrenting this mother and for five extra bucks a month on my cable bill, well, I call that a ____ing steal. Stannis's fire sorceress is super badass in all the ways a redhead should be. Ah, so many nice redheads in this show. And hey Hot Toys--I want a Rob Stark figure with Direwolf to go with my Tyrion I know you guys can make. Get that ____ done.

We signed up the free 3-months for HBO for this. There's some interesting changes, but I'm really glad they added the CG direwolf to make them the correct size.

Good start to the second season....I kinda wished I had rewatched season 1 beforehand because there were a few characters that I had forgotten.

I still haven't read the books - meant to before this new season started...all I can say is I sure hope someone kills that brat of a King Joffrey.

Loved the episode. I am about 1/2 way through the second book. I really want to keep ahead of the episodes. I feel that tonights episode covered a lot of ground!! I better get reading!!!

There were a few changes...

- Stannis did not appear until later in the episode (rather than the very beginning)
- Rob forgot to ask for ICE!!!
- Did Dany's horse die in the book??

Can't wait until next week!

You're right--- That's major!!! I know that after watching season one on BR with the commentary they stated that there will be little differences between the seasons and the books (like the Dothraki that was killed by Drahgo but still lived in the books etc.)-- nothing major but enough that there might be slight ripples. Also some things just might not be possible (like Mormont's raven), but it's too bad the requet for his father's sword wasn't included.

Loved the episode. With The Walking Dead and Spartacus both finished this is the only must see tv on at the moment.

Season 2 started off great. I'm actually impressed at how much they managed to cover in one episode.

I was particularly impressed that they included the poison attempt on Melisandre. It seemed like such a small scene in the book that I was certain it wouldn't make it to the TV series.

I think king Joffrey is even more sinister and threatening in the TV series than the books. I know that he doesn't do anything different in the TV series than in the books but man, Jack Gleeson plays him so well. I get chills every time I see him in action.

Great opening to the season! Easily my favorite thing on TV and I was happy to see the quality of the series seems to have remained high.
