Good start to the second season....I kinda wished I had rewatched season 1 beforehand because there were a few characters that I had forgotten.

I still haven't read the books - meant to before this new season started...all I can say is I sure hope someone kills that brat of a King Joffrey.

The GF and I rewatched Season 1 on Blu-Ray this week. Definitely pumped us up for last night's season premiere. Gotta say though, after watching ten episodes of last season and only an hour of season two, I was hungry for more.

Loved the episode. I am about 1/2 way through the second book. I really want to keep ahead of the episodes. I feel that tonights episode covered a lot of ground!! I better get reading!!!

There were a few changes...

- Stannis did not appear until later in the episode (rather than the very beginning)
- Rob forgot to ask for ICE!!!
- Did Dany's horse die in the book??

Can't wait until next week!

I specifically have held off on reading books two and on because this is one of the few instances that I haven't read the source material beforehand. So please....keep any book spoilers in Spoiler tags!!!

I have the actor who plays Joffrey is so well-cast. So easy to hate, and he has this weird look that makes it believable that he is the product of incestuous in-breeding. I like how he whimpers like a little girl when slapped by his mother (and Tyrion in season 1).

EDIT: Oh, and the budget increase allowed them to film on location in Northern Ireland, Malta, and Iceland. If I remember correctly from the Blu-Ray extras, they only filmed on location in Ireland and Malta last season. All scenes at the Wall / Castle Black and in the North were filmed on sound stages with green screen.

I am same with The Walking Dead seems for me to make the show much more enjoyable than it is for few of my friends who have read the source material. Overall Game has stayed fairly true to the source.

Great opening to the season! Easily my favorite thing on TV and I was happy to see the quality of the series seems to have remained high.
Now I will leave before I run into any spoilers :lecture

From what I've seen in the behind the scenes videos leading up to season 2 there will be a bump in quality, at least in terms of shooting locations and CGI.

Nice episode though... They touched all the bases to get us going again. :yess:

Okay, no one's talking about the Direwolf? I thought he looked great - big and imposing. Sure you can tell he's CG, but still - beats the Malamut pups they used last season.

Having never read the books I'm not sure what to think of Theon... I can't tell if he's a threat to Rob or not.

:monkey3

It'll be an interesting journey... I can't believe some people have actually held off on reading the books. After being exposed to season one last year I tore through all four just in time for #5's hard cover release...

It looked great. I also liked how they showed Bran's Direwolf dream.

I was disappointed with the lack of gratuitous Hodor dong in last night's episode... :dunno

:wink1:

I think king Joffrey is even more sinister and threatening in the TV series than the books. I know that he doesn't do anything different in the TV series than in the books but man, Jack Gleeson plays him so well. I get chills every time I see him in action.

I haven't read the books, but I hope that somebody sets him on fire. Soon.

I wish Batman would have let him die.

I started GOT but once the show moved past where I was in the book I slowed down... Guess I should have started book two once season 1 ended. :dunno

That's like what they did with Theon since he's much more important this season.

:hi5::wave:lecture:panic:

Once this season progresses more I would love to hear your thoughts on his character.

All the characters in this series are well-written and interesting, and I have far too many characters that I like, the surviving one's being Rob Stark, Arya Stark, John Snow, Tyrion Lannister, Bronn, and Theon Greyjoy.

I feel that Theon was earnest in pledging his fealty to Robb Stark, but I can't help but think allowing Theon to return to Iron Isles is a mistake. I think Balon Greyjoy may poison Theon's mind against the Starks.

See for me, I like being surprised at each episode and not knowing what may or may not happen. I am a voracious reader, and most anything that has been adapted to TV or film that began as a book or comicbook, I've read. I knew of the series by Martin, but this I was blown away by the first season on HBO and made the decision not to read the books.

My plan is to read each book once the season has ended.

I won't say anything until this season is done or progressed more but having seen the first 4 episodes of Season 2 and read the book I feel like they changed his character in the show from the book and I haven't come to a conclusion if I like it better in the show or not yet.
