Although I think the idea they were going for with the end credits song failed, I'm surprised so many people care about it. How does it do anything to ruin that last scene? The scene's brilliant whether they play a traditional song or a modern one afterwards.

I didn't mind the song. Was it unexpected?.....hell yes. Is it something I want to see during more end credits?.....hell no.

I actually think it fit with that end scene though TBH. I thought Jaime's scream was purposely melodramatic and campy, which went along with the bear song.

They should have recorded that song in a style appropriate to the show. I like Irish punk. I have met the Young Dubliners on numerous occasions. But this was just dumb.

I didn't care for it, but to me, it didn't effect how awesome that episode one way or the other.

Interesting that episode 3 was Benioff's directorial debut. Maybe he decided to go with punk rendition to make a splash.

Anyways, great episode. Re-watched it again last night, and the I loved the small touches / details, like the manuevering during the Small Counsel. Varys starts to sit down, but Baelish rushs past him to sit next to Tywin. Cersei comes in, and faced with the prospect of being the fourth down from Tywin behind Baelish, Varys, and Pycelle, moves the chair so she can sit next to her father. And Tyrion can gives a rat's *** and sit s as far away from his father as he can. :wink1:

Also liked Aria and Gendry's goodbye to Hot Pie.

As for Jaime's...situation (two days after an episode airs should be enought to speak freely, no?)...

I posted back in when Season 2 was airing was that the smart thing to do was to cut off Jaime's sword hand (obviously, I haven't read book 3 yet). From a practical point of view, it makes the most sense. I also think that the loss of his hand will serve to humble him. Without having read the books beyond the first two, I feel a redemptive arc coming on for Jaime.

How do you guys feel about this version?

I definitely like the first one better. Though I think they should have just stuck with the normal ending. It was a brave move, but not a wise one.

You don't know how long I've waited to hear the Bear and the Maiden Fair in the show. We should be hearing it a few more times coming up soon, I would think.

Also, I've been waiting for the hand scene for what feels like forever. I loved the shocked responses of every who was watching it with me :lol

Tyrion's nose would have just been tough to do no matter what method they removed it with (cig, make up, both, etc). I think they made a good compromise with just the big scar(s) running diagonally through his face. I always felt it was a bit much in the book anyway. Tyrion life is difficult enough as it is :lol

I wonder how long it will take them to give Jamie a prosthetic hand. I can't imagine them just CGIing a stump for him for very long.

Yeah, I thought it was a bit much in the book too. It's hard to even imagine it really. Poor Tyrion. I'm glad they went the route they did.

Listening to the first one I posted again and I really like it. I would have definitely preferred it as well. I don't think it's too outlandish for the show, but it's pushing it.

As for Daenerys, I think she'll give the guy one her dragons (most likely Drogon since the show seems to favor him and ignore Viserion and Rhaegal for some reason :dunno) knowing he'll burn him to a crisp and fly back to mommy. Then I think she'll release all of the slaves in that city and they'll join her.

Yeah the first one is at least a bit more folksy sounding and more in line with what you would expect to hear in the GoT universe.

It was very jarring to hear a punk song... at first I wondered if there had been a mistake :lol But like others, it didn't hurt my enjoyment of the episode.

Nah. It was still the best episode of the season so far. I also like that (with the risk of sounding prudish) this season has been boob light. :panic:
