Please tell me these rumors about Heroes: Origins being canceled because of the writer's strike are BS!!

:banghead  :banghead

It it BS...it was cancelled not because of the strike but because of the poor writing that is bringing in lackluster ratings on the main show!

But... I think I was only watching the mother show the last couple weeks because I had high hopes for the spin-off. I mean, an hour drama each week with different creaters like Kevin Smith doing their own thing without any of the quagmire of the through-line or the week to week (should I say, weak to weak) soap-opera muck of the main show... that would be cool!

Just saw a new promo for tomorrow night's episode and it all but confirmed the theory some of us had on who the "nightmare man" is (the British Kensei). So, either he's a time-traveller as well or one of his powers is that he doesn't age (I hope it's the latter).

This isn't going to help things either...

Heroes Preparing Early Season Finale
Source: TV Guide
November 3, 2007

TV Guide reports that with the writers strike confirmed to start on Monday, "Heroes" is going back and shooting an alternate ending to the Dec. 3 episode that, if used, would allow the episode to function as a season finale.

The magazine says that originally, the episode was only supposed to serve as the conclusion of the current "Generations" arc.

So they it may not come back on in Spring? I'm not really up on entertainment news, what's all this strike talk and will it affect all TV shows or what? :monkey2

Yea, pretty much all TV will be nixed. It's only a writers strike though so as long as they have episodes written they can shoot them. Heroes Origins IS off the table though, so we won't be seeing that this season.

Well, I reckon depending on how far ahead TV shows I watch have episodes written and how long the strike lasts I'll have plenty of time to do homework spring semester. :lol

Actually SAG (the actors) and IATSE (all the on set personnel) are likely to honor the picket line - so it's not definite that they will be able to shoot stuff that's already written. If the strike carries on for months like it did in '88 then there won't be any new programming except reality shows starting in January.

If they had already planned the first chunk of episodes as a self contained story arc, then this might not be too much of a disaster.

However, I shudder to think what this will mean for Lost and 24...

What's really gonna suck is February and March, when the only major sport on TV is basketball and the weater outside sucks. :monkey4 (At least the NCCA Tournament would be watchable).

Seriously, the writers strike taking effect on TV in between football and baseball season means any television I'd be watching will likely be relegated to just Discovery Channel and its ilk.

And it turns out that the preview I saw last night may not necessarily have been for just tonight's episode, as it was touting the beginning of a "5 episode event".

It looks like this season will finally start picking up steam and hitting its stride just in time for the strike. :monkey2

Watched the episode early here on the east coast of Canada...
All I'm going to say is...... (spoiler) Adam.:D

Great one...

I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT!

AWESOME episode! Easily the best of the season, so far. :rock

Last night's episode was the best so far this year...had a good momentum and lots of payoff while still opening up new threads of the story. Felt like season 1 again! Bravo, Heroes!

My favorite moments...Matt's power manifesting, Mama Petrelli being rather "useful" with her power, Hiro growing a pair in dealing with Kensei (and his goodbye with the Princess was rather sweet and not overdone), and Catelin (sp?) being dumped in the most unique way...

Next week looks good too (another "flashback" episode), but for the first time this season, I'm even more anxious to see what happens next!

Last night's epsiode was good, but it all felt a bit by the numbers. It was pretty obvious that British Kensei was going to end up being Adam Monroe and Hiro would end up being the Kensei of legend. Mohinder is shaping up to be the most interesting character this season, never would've figured that.

The preview for next week's episode looks really promising.
