No he shouldn't have.
The TK power was the one that Sylar used almost exclusively since getting it. One of the things most comics do to contain characters with Empath abilities of any kind is set the restriction that they can only use one power at a time. When they are well trained then they can switch relatively quickly but for the most part its a conscious change which is why Peter couldn't just fly himself out of Baxter Plaza and had to have Nathan escort him away. What happens is for powers like healing they kick in automatically so when those are happening he is powerless to do anything else which is why you see healing occur usually after the fight and not during for most characters.
Due to the fact that Sylar was using, therefore calling forward the TK abilities, that would be the power that Peter would automatically absorb. Sylar never used his given ability unless he was removing an ability from someone which he never did in front of Peter so there would be no opportunity to gain that ability. It the same thing with the hyperactive hearing that he stole from the mechanic or the incredible memory he stole from Charlie or even the ability of Alchemy from Bob. Peter doesn't have these because Sylar never used them in his presence.
The hunger is a side effect of Sylar's power, a questioning of how the powers function, why they do what they do. He has no need for it while using another power.
