Congrats on those who picked one up--I'm NEVER home for the newsletter, so I never really feel cheated by offers like this. I do agree that maybe one per customer would have been a good idea. I think most sane people would flip the 2nd Hicks in a NY minute.

I have a 2nd Hicks figure that was gonna go to eBay soon (bought a set of Marines from Kuzeh and I already had a Hicks). I wasn't gonna offer it here b/c I wanted to make some money on it, but I might be willing to discuss some trading if the offer is interesting enough.

What makes you think this seller has any relationship with Sideshow? I've bought from and sold to this seller; I don't believe they have any ties to Sideshow other than selling their product. Sideshow used to sell a few of their slow sellers on eBay in their earliest days, but the only things they sell on eBay these days are the charity auction items, as far as I know.

The seller is called Sideshow outlet. I assumed they used a secondary company to sell their stuff on ebay to make a profit. If not why would they allow them to use their name. :dunno

Well, the actual seller name is "newyork-estate-brokers" and their store is called Sideshow Outlet, probably just because they sell a lot of Sideshow stuff. I don't think it necessarily implies that they are Sideshow, or that Sideshow even knows about them. They sell a lot of other random stuff as well.

Maybe they are just not aware of this seller; that is just his eBay store name because he sells a lot of Sideshow stuff. I'm not sure if Sideshow could get eBay to make him change it anyway.

EDIT: icruise said the same thing as I was typing.

BadMoon is on the case. This seller has been around since I started collection Sideshow. That's how I knew about them. I will get to the bottom of it. :lol

Nevermind I just realised the time! Yikes! I am leaving for the party in an hour! :rock

These threads are what make me never feel bad for "true collectors." Whenever you miss something, you whine, whine, whine. I missed these. You don't see me whining about how much I could have made off these. I scrolled right past it and am laughing about it. You win some, you lose some. I do agree that those on the wait list do have a gripe. I think Sideshow should just leave their waitlists open, or if it is something that they know they probably won't ever get back in stock, keep maybe the first 10-20 wait list reservations active just in case.

I think we should serve them all cheese to go with their whine. :lol

Again, I will mention that the original preorder was a limit of 2 per person, or at least ended with that. Sideshow will increase the limit for slow sellers, but I have never seen them decrease the limit unless it was a mistake when it was first put up. These things didn't sell out that quickly when they were first put up for preorder, and Sideshow doesn't usually change their limits just because a figure has become "hot" and is worth a lot on the secondary market.

The only thing you can fault Sideshow for with these, is not fulfilling the Wait List. I've had that happen a couple of times myself.

Pfft. I'm sure that Sideshow KNOWS how hot these items are.
I'm sure that they also KNOW that there have been people on the wait-list like forever. I'm also sure that Sideshow knows that these items would've gotten hoarded like there's no tomorrow.

And still they ignore all of the above.
It's not like I want one of these figs. I already have ALL of the Marines.
And it's not whining like some of you call it. It's expressing one's frustrations that after such a long time Sideshow goes and sells these figures like they did. Those on the (ex)wait-list got the shaft. So of course they're pissed.

If they put a limit of 1 on the items (and don't start that, "they never did it before so why start now" thing. That's how businesses expand... through change) at least some of the waitlisters would have gotten a slightly better chance of finally owning one.

If you can't see why people feel cheated, then it's no use.

Again, congrats to those who scored them, and sorry to those that didn't.
I don't feel anyone here did wrong except for Sideshow.

...If you can't see why people feel cheated, then it's no use...

I did say that I agreed about the wait list thing...

...and if people feel cheated because the limit was 2 and not 1, I can understand that too, but at the same time, I understand Sideshow's policy...

...otherwise, I don't see any reason why anyone should feel cheated or that Sideshow screwed them.

they're overpriced.

banny has a handle and i agree 100%. you do win some and lose some. i've found waitlists really work but when items are ready to ship and there's cc declines and cancels. not so much as time goes on. the longer the item is sold out, the less of a chance you'll get one.

Otherwise? Those are the two issues we're talking about here, aren't they?

Not completely. I still personally don't feel the limit thing is an issue since that was the limit while it was originally up for preorder. The Wait List issue should be addressed, but since the Wait List for this was closed (according to someone in this thread, I don't know for certain) then I can see why Sideshow just put them up.

What it all comes down to is that this is a business, and they make business decisions. The Wait List is a nice feature (which I wouldn't want to see go away), but it does cost them in man hours to implement and maintain; if they don't think any more of a product will be available and close the list, it is a decision on their part to not only let the collector know they should look elsewhere, but to not spend extra on continuing to maintain that list... and sometimes, something like this occurs, but that is just part of the equation. Sideshow doesn't have to offer us a wait list... they don't have to offer products at the original price when put up for second chances... they don't have to do a lot of things they try to do for us customers. In the long run, they do most things very well, but like any person or company, they are not perfect and occasionally make mistakes or bad decisions. I don't like it when they raise an edition size after a product sells out, but they've done it a few times now.

Basically, I guess what I'm trying to say is, offer them constructive criticism when you think they have made a mistake and send them an email or phone call; if enough do it, they will try to find a solution I'm sure, but for some to claim they were "screwed" implies it was done with malice and ill intent, and I think we all know that Sideshow probably didn't intend to upset anyone and was just trying to offer something that they knew people wanted. At least they tried...

I was surprised to see these on the newsletter and that i decided to go out to lunch before checking it makes me an idiot. I would have grabbed a few of these to sell on and get some enterbay figs.

Oh, I don't think anyone here thinks that Sideshow was sitting around looking for ways to upset its customers. But I do think that they didn't think this one through very well. Call me a whiner, but I do think that the people who actually want the items for themselves instead of to sell should get priority, and in this case that would mean using the waitlist and limiting purchases to one per person. (Again, I wasn't even on the list, so I'm not really arguing for myself here.)

I also don't really agree with the idea that Sideshow is providing the waitlist as a favor to its customers. I would say that it's at least as much to Sideshow's benefit as it is to the customer's. And does it really take much manpower to run the waitlists -- isn't the system automated?
