Hot Toys posted this to their Facebook page, I always enjoy these little insights into the people that deliver the products we love to buy, so figured I'd post it here.

JC and Yulli talk to HK Media!

3/4 page in The Sun on Jan 6

JC and Yulli were interviewed on their debut, collaboration and satisfaction

**On collaboration**

1/ Both of them have collaborated with Hot Toys for more than 3 years; thanks to their craftsmanship, the quality standard of the 12” figures has been raised, and the figures have been transformed from toys to collectibles

2/ JC started to collaborate with Howard because they share common interest and Howard is willing to invest in the collectible figure industry

3/ JC met Yulli at an industry exhibition and was very impressed by her sculpture. When Howard invited him to join Hot Toys, he found Yulli as his partner

4/ JC is mainly responsible for project management and painting while Yulli for sculpting

5/ Communications is very important between them, JC said. Apart from talent and good observation, Yulli is willing to listen to others and is very efficient in sculpting (she can finish 2 head sculpts in just 2 weeks!), which make her successful in the industry

**On Yulli**

6/ Yulli entered the industry because of her family background. Inspired by her grandfather and father, Yulli was interested in sculpting when she was young. Her elder brother is also a sculptor too

7/ When she was 18, she wished to study sculpting at university, so she started to learn it seriously

8/ She started to sculpt 1:1 scale statue at the beginning and then focuses on 1/6th scale collectible figures after joining the Hot Toys group

**On project**

9/ Both of them are satisfied with Joker most among the 2009 projects, because it is well-received by fans, said Yulli; while JC feels that he has a great sense of satisfaction for this project though it is challenging because they have to create 3 versions. They were busy with the T-800 project at that moment

10/ For female figure development, Yulli believes that the market will become more mature after the setting up of the Hot Angel line, while the most challenging part is hair sculpting and selection of hair materials

My g/f was temporarily interested when I told her that a girl makes my figures :lol I showed her a picture of Yulli. Also I concur, off-topic though it may be, Yulli is rather pretty.

Yeah yeah she is pretty. Let's get past that. Whenever I see photos or read an interview featuring Yulli or JC, I wish for details of in-development sculpts or shots that allows us to see behind-the-scenes of the progression of a sculpt (be it an unpainted prototype that never made it to fruition or otherwise). Sorta like that Machiko prototype above.

As little as I appreciate the final Big Chap Alien figure, I did appreciate seeing Joseph Tsang's work on it in iterative phases.

There must be so many unused prototype sculpts that we don't know about and may never see. Maybe some of them have likenesses that are spot for spot as good as the final sculpt but perhaps have an expression that doesn't quite fit.

Sigh.

I just saw this over on FB, I so wish there was enough interest in the UK to support some actual good quality 'print' magazines about collecting. I love these kinds of features but I guess online makes sense.
Cheers for posting here MF.

Thats a good idea Wooks, but it will be doomed from the start I think!

Lets try, you can be the head honcho of the new publishing empire!!

:D

They d be pleasantly surprised if they attempted something like that I believe.Sadly, the UK-Based collector lost a great source for alternative interest magazines with the demise of "Borders" a little earlier this month.

Yeah, thats a shame.

Only thing that will work if established mags like Empire have a special section each month on figures, sure Wooks will be good at it with his review skills and all!

But hey, we can only hope!

Anyways back on track - good article!

Funnily enough I was in talks with Sci-Fi Now magazine a while back, but things came to a halt. I remember Area 51 magazine as well, that was good, but only lasted a year or so. It's a fickle market, and with so much info out on the internet, being vital and relevant would be a tough call.

Guys Sun Magazine has this interview posted on their website

Here is some translation:

The upcoming Sarah Connor

Hutchison ︰ T-800 is your latest works, which of the difficulty?

Y ︰ Arnold Schwarzenegger added contours of deep, hair and "put up" a single carving face shape and hair have spent a lot of time. In addition, T-800 of the murderous lot, so I carved a special effort to get Shensui eyes, it seems even more powerful by. JC. Hong also spent a lot of ingenuity to deal with the skin texture.

Hutchison ︰ do you think are there any 12-inch Figure in the future direction of development?

J ︰ I would like to still move like the real degree of development, such as Yulli mentioned earlier, the expression of hair, there is still much room for improvement. In addition, although the Hot Toys to introduce PERS system, so that Figure eyes can rotate, but the eyes can also be cut and polish a little more detail, the skin color can be no matter how little, as long as there are improvements in every part, there must be more people see the The uproar of the works available.

What you have in mind works ︰ available this year?

Y ︰ I am currently being produced by the "Future Warrior 2" Sarah Connor, this role a strong come very sexy, yes I'm like a role. Currently being discussed in what materials their hair, hoping to meet with you as soon as possible 啦!
Classical Regression: Arrow pig Arnold

Earlier HT, T-800 in Japan, when the posters appeared, had been criticized murderous Wuduo enough, this shot Prototype, physiognomy clearly been substantially revised, more prominent cheekbones, forehead is more deep. On the other hand, in order to show T-800's big and tall stature, Figure adoption of the new ferrite to create, design with the approximation use of crimes, namely, chest and abdomen as a plastic cover, his arms are PVC with joints, the advantage of flexibility in degree increase, the left forearm can be replaced with mechanical hand, with the full movie style. The proportion of full-body clothing to re-cut-off according to stature, black leather jacket more involved, even the zipper, leather buckle is also faithful to restore. Similarly, with the full original accessories and symbolic, of course the black super-chou, the most it serves him right that even the roses have a box can support the entire collection shotguns. It is understood that HT will work with Side Show co-operation throughout the film series, which means more roles will be center stage for the individual most looking forward to T-800 version of the war spirit in the hope of DX version of the profile appearance.
