thanks for the info.

figured it was only a matter of time until flexpay dates changed since SS and other retailers have this now set for March release. and it better be a US march release not a HK march release with an April US release!

March or April, I'd just be happy with a definite date for financial purposes. :slap

Its gonna be hard to justify this after they showed us the tumbler. This and Avatar very unique figure but do they fit with what i am trying to do

I feel like HT owes us even a bit of information. I have no doubt it is coming its just the timing is a bit unfortunate.
I've been trying to get my head around how the figure lights up. I noticed in the specs it says:
- One (1) one-piece undetachable black-color Tron Warrior suit with LED light-up function (white light, battery operated) with data disc at the back

It makes it sound like its the suit not necessarily the figure that lights up. So does that mean they have been able to run some kind of very thin lighting system through the material of the suit. If that is the case it sounds like their idea was pretty ambitious. If that was the plan, my guess is the next step was articulated figures with light up clothing. It seems like the announcement of this piece was rushed to coincide with movie's release and then took much longer than they realized.
My guess is the updates on other figures we are getting is because HT actually knows how to make those figures and how long it will take.

My guess is at this stage in the game they must be getting close. The question is did they spend so much on R & D they are going to consider the project a loss or can they recoup the money using what they learned on this to do a couple of Tron figures.
What's crazy is if what I think is happening is happening they spent a lot of time and money developing something that as far as I know can only be used for one license. I can't think of any other property that would involve so much lighting. I found it interesting that people report that the last few times it has been on display at shows the lights haven't been turned on. If that is wrong please feel free to correct me.
That's my two bit theory at this point. Hopefully, if they pull off what they are trying to do it is worth the wait.

I don't think the suit is anything separate--it looks like it's all sculpted together, which makes sense since there's hardly any articulation, and the leg is something you switch out for a different pose.

It definitely wasn't lit at SD Comic-Con last summer, though it was on display at the Sideshow booth. :thud:

Sorry if this is an ignorant question but is there any chance that the delay is due to the fact that HT is trying to make Sam an actual figure and not a statue like piece that is attached to the bike? Could that be the reason for this much of a delay?

Thanks

No, it would be too expensive, they won't add anything that isn't already promised unless it's really really cheap--like a cardboard backdrop or whatever, like the extra little things they include in the DX figures, like the Joker cards or Jack Sparrow's pirate flag.

It looks like that to me as well. The main reason I questioned it was because the specs had a subsection on the costume where it described the costume as lighting up. I know sometimes things get lost in translation with HT.

i would prefer if this shipped anytime except the 2nd quarter of 2012, i have iron monger and the tumbler that quarter, this would make 3 of the biggest figure purchases I've ever made all at the same time. i can't handle that!

^ considering this was due long before them, it would be better for the Tumbler or Monger to ship in Q3. In fact i was shocked at HT shipping the Tumbler in Q2, those who want it bad enough will probably be cancelling something else to get it.

What are the odds that Iron Monger and/or the re-issue Tumbler will ship on time? Seems to me very few releases actually come out on time, usually there's at least a month or so delay. So hopefully they'll end up being spaced out at least a little.

:thud:

Since the Tumbler is already designed, I would imagine it will ship on time. They probably were able to figure out pretty accurately when they'd have the production ready.

If for some reason it doesn't come out in Q1 it better be Q2 with other figures like the Tumbler and/or Iron Monger being pushed back. It just would totally be an even bigger slap in the face to delay this figure even longer for something else that was announce waaaaay after it

I had originally thought of canceling this lightcycle in order to get '89 Joker and Bats but man I just couldn't do it. i know this thing is going to be epic and really a one of a kind piece, unless HT does for some reason decide to make more lightcycles (which I doubt unfortunately). Plus what would I do with good 'ol Kevin Flynn all by his lonesome :dunno :lol

So I see SSC still has this for preorder at $299... is there any other place that still has them for any less?

M.
