Just curious as to how many figures get made and sold that's all. Looking at NECA only making 15000 of the 1/4 Pred I was just wondering whether Hot Toys made more or less. I thought tens thousands would be made for the worldwide demand.

15,000 is WAY above what Hot Toys releases per figure. I would guess that the average edition size is around 3000. Probably even lower.

Tracker with the hound will be one impressive display, just by itself. But when displayed with Falconer and Berzerker, they'll all look even better. (like in that pic floating around.)

We don't know for sure, but I've heard second hand that dealers estimate HT probably does at least 10K per run. 10-15K seems about right.

Wow. That just seems like Hasbro numbers. I tried to compare to Sideshow numbers, with the possibility of them being even a bit lower. Now I'm really curious what they would be...

And just to be clear...

The 15,000 by NECA is:
5K unmasked, closed mouth;
5K unmasked, opened mouth; and,
5K masked.

NECA doesn't do interchangeable heads, at least, not with this one.
:pfft:NECA

If HT making around 10K - 15K per run , now that is a lot!!!! I was thinking more of 3k - 5k per run?

It sounds like a lot, but it isn't compared to what really big toy companies like Hasbro and Mattel do.

Each toy needs to be made in a certain quantity to achieve a return on investment (and costs to R&D, create prototypes, get licenses, market, and manufacture all add up--not to mention the international exchange rates, import/export fees, taxes and whatnot), and 3-5K generally doesn't cut it.

Keep in mind that 5K is generally the size of Sideshow's figure runs.

I honestly think that HT makes about 3K-5K per run considering that many online stored run low or even out of stock weeks after their release...besides aren't their limited edition runs about 2.5K? maybe someone can clear that up?

The 10th Anniversary Batman & Scarecrow set was set to 4000 pieces...and is considered a limited release...so based simply on this I would think that regular / non Sideshow exclusive versions are higher than that number...? I really don't know...

if they are making 10K-15K per run they sure have a lot of great painters!!!!!

The figures are not hand-painted, hence why everyone is so amazed at how awesome they are.

Again, no one outside of Hot Toys and their production facilities, and perhaps SSC, really knows what each run is (with the exception of certain lines that are specifically advertised as limited).

But I think they say the Berserker head is hand painted.

I'm pretty sure HT has already stated the figures are hand-painted (head sculpts at least). They cannot get these results otherwise.

If the headsculpts were hand painted it would probably take four years instead of 4 months.

You guys are taking this "hand painting" thing far too literal.

All hand painting is, is a bunch of people sitting around with airbrushes and cut outs.

They put a cut out over the head (depending on what part needs painting) and spray some paint on it.

That's all it is...it's not a buch of people sitting around with brushes and little jars of paint painting all these.
