I think they've nailed headsculpt, the coat looks nice (certainly no other figure in my collection has an outfit like this one does), like you said the base is nice, the broken cowl is a cool little accessory and the figure probably has 3 different looks (bare arm, coat and jumper), those are probably the things I like about it and yeah it's Bane and he's never been done before.
At the end of the day this isn't a DX release it's a standard MMS figure, some MMS figures excel in what they bring to the table (like say the T1000) but then some are fairly standard. I like this figure, it wont win any figure of the year contests but it does what it's meant to.
