Exactly, I think they knew making it all about the third film would limit the appeal, but putting one Weller faceplate, the spike and an R2 helmet in the wrong hue is nothing compared to the jetpack and full headsculpt for 3. It also had some sloppy QC issues for a figure at that price point, imho. An impressive piece, if one didn't have to spend money on it imho ;)

I was hesitant about the EB price tag but bit the bullet anyways. No regret for me at all after having it in hand. I'm getting the HT one too but the truth is the 1/4 scale is impressive and the EB sculpt is spot on. Until you have seen one in real life you shouldn't be quick to dismiss it.

This is the lowest lighting Clipper ever gets the figure in.

I'm just talking about the balance of accessories being something of a compromise compared to the HT going all Weller. If someone gave me an EB Robo, I'd be over the moon and sod the accessories... but I couldn't justify the price, given the niggles. But that's what we're all here for right, to work out our niggle levels :D
I think it has something to do with having the rights to weller
From what I understand, eb does not have the weller rights, hence the robo 3 version(with weller mouth plates)

And if ht makes Cain, I don't see how they will get him to stand on those tiny feet
Cain is so top heavy

HT could do what it's done with the Rhino prototype on display at cons - a plastic piece between the legs.

I think the EB one looks better than that shot in any light condition...the HT looks very chrome...but I will reserve final judgement when I have it in hand...
the eb version is more gray than the shiny silver the ht looks to be

True, I think 3zero did it with their 2013 ed209s too

My guess is they provide some special claw stand.

They're not fully articulated figures. Nor are they cheap. But what they are (so far; Cain and ED-209) is unquestionably 100% movie accurate. Only problem is they are making a model of the effects RoboCop, not of Weller in costume, if you see the difference :D

Yeah, they're based off of the movie puppets and the RoboCain costs well over $1,000. I'll wait for HT's offering.

There's no elaborate paint finishes to worry about there at least. But there are a ton of intricate little parts. If HT are smart, they'll get a Chronicle, take it to bits and make their own as close to a moving version of it as possible.

Do we know they're actually doing anything beyond the unmasked original RoboCop? I've no problem speculating, just wondering if I missed a concrete fact that they'd be doing anything further? :)

I think a few pages back, DiFabio said HT was developing its own RoboCain. I think HT will eventually tackle R2, but we may not see protos for at least a few more years, if that soon.

I found this on Flickr, don't know if this is the figure on display at Secret Base. It must have been early in the figure's development because it doesn't have those little bits beneath the shoulder rings. I like the way he looks here.
