You guys need to calm the eff down with this paint business. It looks FINE. GREAT even. I agree with Spanbauer. If you look at either blu ray release on a PROPERLY CALIBRATED DISPLAY, it's clearly a grayish silver with purple and blue highlights. I stress the importance of the display being properly calibrated because a non-calibrated screen will generally show everything with a strong blue tint. That's how TV manufacturers usually set them from the factory and people just don't change them. He only looks blue in Robocop 2. I've been a Robocop fan for a very long time and this is hands down the most accurate figure I've seen.

If the figure is "FINE", then why do I see so much anger from people trying to convince themselves the figure is acceptable?

This figure has a glaring inaccuracy. Colour is one of the most powerful visual cues of any figure. Hot Toys has failed, badly, on a $300 figure. The colour is not even close to any on-screen visual or the original prop.

Yes he was blueish, but not THAT blueish. For the most accurate reference, people should refer to screenshots from the remastered blu-ray released earlier this year.

Either way he doesn't remotely match the on screen colors. The bright silver makes him look a bit cheapish sadly but I digress.

To be honest, Clip's review, while enjoyable to watch, didn't exactly put my mind at ease. The suit looks too bright, the mouthplates too dark. Maybe it'll look different, better, in hand.

And that holster...inaccurate in the way it opens and closes and operates, visible seams and hinges...just shaking my head, just shaking my damn head.

I wonder if the lengthy delay had anything to do with HT trying to get the paint just right. But in the end, they were unable to so they just gave up.

I'm not doing anything drastic like canceling, but maybe one of these days we'll get a figure that looks just like the proto.

Let's be honest here, those original prototype pictures were probably heavily modified to achieve that dark, blue, high contrast look. Photographers and reviewers not being able to achieve that prototype look shouldn't come to us as a surprise when this was available for our viewing pleasure in 2013,

The actual proto wasn't exactly what we had in out minds in terms of color then either. In Clipper's video, the final product looks just as good, if not better, which is impressive from prototype to production.

the problem with matching the paint of the screen version is that the screen version was actually green, which appeared silver on film
so HT has to decide if it wants an overall blue hue, like the original or go silver with the pearling effect
i could understand how hard it is to reproduce something, which took a camera to make it look like it did

Im new to collecting, and Ive been following both Robocop and Terminator T-800 threads since I have both pre-ordered and If I learned anything is not to be so critical! I was getting depressed (being a beginner) hearing everyone clamoring about how the proto (t-800)was so much better and it's horrible, Im canceling my order and so forth only to see "most" people change there mind once it was in there hand. And like the t-800 im sure most can be fixed or made to look better with lighting. Im pretty sure the actual Robocop in the movie would look different under direct led lighting. Granted not as shimmery (dont know if thats an actual word but you guys know what I mean) but Im excited to get it!

Don't get too down reading our comments. It's to be expected. There's a difference between the casual collector and the collector who signs up and becomes a member of a 1/6 board. The latter tends to be much more critical than the former.

I'm sure a lot of it is just venting by people who A) expected one thing and didn't get what they were expecting but B) still intend to get the figure. Others are genuinely upset. To each their own.

Very nice figure, I like it. Though I hope the rubber in the joints is not the same stuff as Ed 209's gaiters

I'm amazed that the color on the first release is better than this new release. :slap

Why do u think that? The color on the 1st ver. had way too much blue tinting which is wrong. Robo has mostly purple
hues and a grey/silver glossing. That blue tinting on the old ver. is more robocop2 than anything. I think people
are ignoring the fact every video and pic mostly so far has white lighting shined on it, which of course is not going to make it look right.
