Man, I can't imagine passing on this figure solely based on the paint color. It doesn't look just like the film, but it's not like it's green or orange or something way off. It's not chrome either. I've seen some people refer to it as chrome, but that is incorrect. If you are waiting on a perfect paint job that looks exactly like the character appeared on screen in a mass-produced action figure then I can respect that, but I fear you may still have a very long wait ahead.

Still don't get why would anyone wants to compare the two, very different product but I guess it's the " my dad is stronger than yours" syndrome.
Ill play too :)
I think hot toys ed209 is much better than the Neca one.

I finally decided for the robocop with chair, he looks freaking iconic in it.
But that lootentoy is quite weird, he finally got back to me he has shipping material but dont send me the invoice...
grats on the purchase
i know its a stupid comparison as they really arent direct competitors, i just felt compelled to do it since there is a constant comparison on the boards and the HT version bumped the EB version out for my fav figure

Crappy, inaccurate holster design aside, this IS RoboCop.

Actually the holster isn't crappy after all! Nearly everyone has missed the additional fold in the holster door, which ClipperKing was kind enough to point out in a follow-up video he posted earlier this week. Check it out at the 5:25 mark.

^^^ Is this your pic? Looks great

No, I got it from the HK site Spanbauer posted. With the right lighting, it does look more movie accurate.

Yeah, it is. It's pretty much a reuse from the 1.0 figure, not accurate at all. I noticed this when HK photogs first put their pics up. The side panel doesn't operate that way, it swivels rearwards and stops.

The NECA spring-loaded holster is much more faithful to the mechanism. Go to 7:00.

I get that the ass isn't supposed to swing open - the metal on the back of the shouldn't move at all while the front and side splits open like the NECA figure - but the holster is looking way better now than it did early on. At first it looked like the whole leg just swung open as one single piece and that was it; people weren't sliding the front piece forward or using the hinge that splits the door - so with what we know now I'm much happier about it than I was.

That said, for $300 it should have been accurate, and I'd have loved it if Hot Toys just straight-up ripped off NECA's spring-loaded holster feature, only with a more well-hidden switch. But as I said, knowing that there's the extra hinge in the door makes me much happier.

No, HT didn't even have to make it "pop open" as in the NECA figure or the movie. Just recreate the mechanics and have us open the panels, one at a time, with the magnetic stick. And have the holster slide out, manually.

That way, you don't have any inaccurate, ugly, zigzag seam on the back of the thigh. But nope, HT just did what it did with 1.0. Lazy.

That'd have been fine, too!

So are all you guys on board for the Battle damaged as well? I want one but I don't think I want to drop $650 for two Robocop figures. I'm truly undecided as to which to purchase. Value wise it seems like the Regular is a no brainer. BD just seems to steep in price for the offering.

Since they announced the BD Robo it's been the only one I've wanted. You can easily buy an additional head for a helmeted version. Still, I feel a little cheated knowing it should have had the sounds clip option for the price tag.

hey can someone explain the shipping price?

my order says $17+ for shipping on this...

my war machine mk II has a lot more diecast, same size box and was just $10... anyone looked into this??

:exactly:

I know a lot of guys think it's a cheap gimmick, but I would've appreciated sound features with the BD Robo. Just having him say, "Clarence!," "I'm not arresting you anymore" and "Murphy" would've been awesome. They're all pretty memorable lines to me.

well spoke to ss about the shipping....
diecast apparently is so massively heavy that they need to charge more.

i asked then why do all the other figures they sell (war machine, mk 42) which have more diecast cost $10?

apparently (their words) they are doing you a favor only charging $10 for those:lol

Nah dont worry, to be fair you can compare both on the sculpting, wich one got the shapes right.
Its just that it usually turn not an EB vs HT thing wich is childish.
Like you i Will own both, i Will probably spend more Time posing playing with the HT one, as the EB is a beautiful articulated statue, museum like item.
Congrats on your figure too mate ;)
Robocop fans united!

Totally agree. Robo is easily in my top five sci-fi films and totally quotable. Even some of the lesser lines are still cool, "They'll fix you. They fix everything" etc

The math just feels wrong with the pricing of the regular and BD Robocops. I wonder if anyone can give it a good argument. HT’s put the price high on the regular version (I would say a extra $50) from regular MMS figures due to the sound feature and die cast. Yet they priced the BD the exact same with these features removed. Sure you can argue head sculpt and likeness rights but is the head sculpt equal to four mouth plates, two helmets, two armour chest, sound feature and die cast? Im sure Jack Nicholson doesn’t think so.! Pound for Pound BD has a overall overpriced feeling. The bare bones accessories does not help it case either. We received a potato peeler with Heath Joker a pen with T-1000 but HT could not throw in a drill, removed helmet or a tiny mirror. Baby food and a big gun same stand does not do it any favours. Feels rushed. Where’s that Budget Stark, maybe he can get to the bottom of this.

i think its probably as simple as, if we get enough interest on robo @ $300, keep the price there for future releases

I think the uniqueness of the release itself explains the higher price point. Has there ever before been a full-reveal Peter Weller RoboCop, in any scale?

My shipping also increased from $10 for the Mark 42 in August to $17 for Robocop. Seems excessive, but apparently Sideshow's done doing us favors, huh?
