I don't really want to get into the conversation about the color cause it is what it is and nothing is going to fix it. You either accept it, or don't :lol

i dunno man...
i'm thinking that some semigloss clear (like a tamiya79) w/ a tad of black pearl or candy diluted in it thru an airbrush would get you there.... hmmmmm...

i'm seriously thinkin about picking one of them spare chest pieces off the evilbay for $18 and giving it a whirl...

i know it took the edge off that shiny azz capt america shield i had flaking... and a cooont hair smidge of that black might do the trick.

Well I’m “officially” out of the Regular Version Robocop game. Instead I will be making the Battle Damaged Purchase next year. I was always attracted to the BD version as the headsculpt (in movie) has been some of the best make-up effect done even to this day. It is the “head” more than anything that I want represented in my collection. Maybe I was leaning towards the regular recently because it was on the edge of being release and I wanted a Robocop now. But I am sure if I play the patient game I will personally be more happier. Part of the decision with BD I guess is when I look at my DX10 & DX13, both are great figures but personally I feel that the DX13 has more character due to the extra details coming out of the BD appearance.

I will however be picking up the regular version head from ebay and displaying it next to the BD figure in my cabinet. Still want that part of the regular version release!!!

Come on guys…give me a pat on the back and say good job!!!

I'd wait for in-hand pics before placing an order :lecture In fact unless there's some must-have exclusive accessory, I think I'm done pre-ordering figures entirely.

here's a 2 min super sloppy chop job of your shot w/ about 10-15% reduction in the brightness to simulate just a tad of darkening would look like...
to me it looks the spot.[/URL]
Do you think applying an airbrush coat to darken the figure would negatively impact the violet hues as well, or would they still show through?

Bottom line:

No matter how many pictures of this piece you see, the one you'll get is SILVER. Low light, flash, outside, inside, in the desert, etc.

SILVER.

And it's a damn fine Silvercop.

i'm not 100% sure... it might snuff them down a bit. but you should be able to offset it by adding a touch of this to the clear...
Violet Satin Pearl pigment is great for making your very own pearl custom paint!

its a purple satin pearl. im sure w/ some testing you could actually improve some of the pearl look as its inconsistent on the figure as well...

Best not give 'em ideas.

Hmm, looking at that comparison I can definitely see what you guys are talking about. It almost looks like a coating of a gunmetal gray would be enough to darken it the desired amount.

Still though, I'm more than happy with the figure as it is. I usually keep the lighting in my house fairly low anyway, so the brightness doesn't jump out at me nearly as much as in the pic above. And to be fair, most 1/6 figures tend to be off a bit from the real thing in one way or the other (color, detail, likeness, etc), so I never really expect anything to look 100% perfect.

Very hard for me to imagine how a novice paint job would improve Robo. How do you handle it afterwards w/o messing up the finish? And that's assuming you don't eff up the application, somehow. No way would I do it and I'd never buy the fig second-hand from someone that changed the paint, either, supposing anyone cares about re-sale.

:goodpost::exactly: Its easy to complain but after you saying that, I doubt anyone is actually going to make the jump. Someone mentioned getting a spare chest plate and trying it, but we'll see if they actually do it. At least people are enjoying this figure and the ones that don't are also not returning it so there you go.

Just gotta say this gets my vote for figure of the year. The realism and proportion they achieved on this outweighs any flaws this may or may not have. As for the "silver" paint issue - it becomes irrelevant the longer you have this figure in hand. My only worries with Robo are how well the rubber covering the elbow joints and knee joints will hold up over time.

Before this, I would have given the vote to the Mark XLII, but what they did on this release just blows the prior diecast figures out of the water. It could be because I am a long time Robocop fan, but the quality and care that went into making this shows through. An outstanding release which will not be beaten for a very long time.

Robo has less diecast than the Iron Man armors but weighs just as much. These just feel right at this weight and it does make the prior robotic releases feel cheap by comparison even though they weigh as much as most other figures. Robo is a great surprise this year and if you don't have him yet, you are missing out.
