Hot Toys – MMS202D04 - 1/6th scale RoboCop Collectible Figure

Still truly frustrating how they had nailed the paint color on the prototype, and yet totally missed the mark in production and no one at Hot Toys felt the need to step up and say, "now wait a minute here...". This is the equivalent of ordering a metallic-grey car from the dealer and receiving a white-silver car.

Do you guys feel that HT should step up and address the colour change in one of their Q&A's?

I think they should but we all know they will not.

I truly think that if the BD version came with a BD helmet accessory and was around the $250 price point it would be a no contest which I would purchase. I am only leaning towards the Regular version because of the greater value of what I receive for $300. I don’t give a rats *** to the three baby bottles and the big gun.

So, who's going to be the first collector to find a spray that can go over the silver bits of the figure to darken him up without eliminating the violet tones?

funny you mention this... when i've been looking at him and how crazy shiny/silvery it looks... i've been contemplating what it would look like w/ a light hitting of a psuedo dull coat/semi gloss coat of clear mix w/ a little color matched pearl... would bring out the blueish pearl a bit more and darken it a tad...

DA's photo's are the best represention on in hand with no special lighting effects

honestly if your torn on buying it... it takes nothing more than looking at my last pic. or the ones w/ ed209. that is how it pretty much looks in real life. normal lighting, no special stuff, etc. if you can tolerate the color or it doesn't bother you that much, its great all around except for the fiddly gun hand.

DA's photo's are the best represention on in hand with no special lighting effects

no chief that's a picture of my desk of my figure in normal lights, no funky affects, filters, types of lights etc. straight up 40 watt bulb lamp standard in any home providing light to my figure. you prove my point in the color by your comment of "worst possible pic" granted its not a top o' the line camera... but still from my personal vision and the look of that pic i took... they are pretty much the same visually.

Oh so were making pet names for each other, ok cupcake Sorry if I offended your photography skills, I'm no pro myself, but DA's photos are taken under standard light bulbs or a naturally sun lit room as well with no flash, so Not sure how I proved your point

Like I said its not perfect, but it is pretty damn nice IMO.

*you didn't offend my photo skills. i know the picture isn't high end. used my iphone 6 not my d5300 nikon. color still wouldn't be much different as the paint is silver just as my crap iphone pic took and appears very close in real life to the pic. at least from my eyes. others may differ of course.

*never said it wasn't nice. said figure was top notch minus the paint and fiddly hand.

There's also a third option - you accept it because it's RoboCop. I couldn't accept the clean headsculpt and wacky proportions of the BD Terminator, but I accept this because RoboCop.

i would think so... unless i got a defect, mine looks nothing like those pix in normal household light.
even the old lady who isn't a robocop lover said last night "looks cool... the bright silver makes it stand out"

From having the potential to be an incredible, definitive line of movie figures Robocop has unfortunately thrown up some major disappointments. Rubber domes again, off-colour paint apps, terrible choices with the sound clips....

You might be right on that, DA can say for sure, but I know he does not use led or any other special lighting for his collection or pics.

True, most of those issues are ED209's alone except the paint, at least I hope that's the case, robo's rubber elbows and knees scare me

I've moved past the paint color issue and I only notice it when I pose robo next to Ed. Unfortunately, Ed really makes the flaw stand out
