Ah, man. Just checked the rubber joints on my ed and it's beginning. Dome is fine still, for now.
Too bad buddy!
Can you still return it?

Sadly not =/
That may be.
All I can say is that I got teo ED209s and BOTH started to rot away.
Climate? Come on, all my Batmen, Hellboy and Dutch have no probs at all.
Hot Toys handled it the worst kind possible; they just pulled out defective figures. No communication with us at all... :/
But to be honest: given all my problems with that figure I don't really need it.
I just hope for Robo to be fine.
then why arent mine and others rotting at the same rate?
once we heard there was a rotting issue, I was 100% confident that mine was next and there was nothing i could do about it(except try to prolong it)
we have members here who did nothing to their ed, and its still good, we also have members who applied something and theirs are still good
the lack of rotting really makes me wonder if it could possible be a batch issue.i know thats something i hope is true but the inconsistency is puzzeling
maybe im not giving it enough time
I wish there was a way to put our finger on it but the inconsistency makes it impossible. Not just for ED but for all rubber figs that had issues. The reports are all over the place and there are no constants when it come to climate, display situation or treatment/non-treatment.
Like a-dev said, it's most likely inevitable, but the time table for the inevitable to happen is impossible to determine. Some people's ED's are falling apart in record time. Then there are people like me who have a fair share of rubber figs and don't have issues. Aside from my ED I have 5 different Xeno's, Leonidas, 2 TF Bats and a DX02 that I just sold a few weeks ago, and zero issues up until now with any of them (*makes sign of the cross*). Maybe their day is still coming because there's no way to dodge the bullet but some of those Aliens are 7 years old already and still going strong.
The one thing that I never heard mentioned as a possibility is the heating system of your house or where these are stored. Can that prolong or excel the rate of degradation? I have steam heat which of course caries a lot of moisture. Central heat is much, much drier and is pretty much the same as the heat in our cars.
My old rubber figures are still holding up extremely well, no cracking, so I still have hope for my ED-209. Perhaps it's the climate that I'm in? I'm still getting the products just in case though since the rubber dome could be of different construction. So so far, it's mod podge and Honda silicone something?
