You always pay customs for things you buy outside of the country or EU (not sure which). HOWEVER Loontentoys usually marks his boxes with 'Gift' meaning it gets past customs easily.

Don't worry about it pal. Should be fine.

It may delay by a day or two (some have said a week but I've never been that unlucky) but I doubt it will come out with customs charges. From some HK sellers but I've never had or heard it from loontentoys.

I've ordered twice from him and got charged for customs both times :dunno

Thats why I order from other sellers now, he was great to deal with and good prices but there must be something on the boxes that Irish customs felt a need to check!

Legion - Can I ask how much you paid for the item and how much the customs fees where please.PM if needed. Just want to know what to expect just incase.

Mine has been released from customs anyway, is that a sign for fees or not ?. Does the item stay in customs while you get a bill sent or does it get sent to local RM for billing ?.

I got an E-mail to say how much I'd have to pay so if you havent you should be safe :)

I cant remember exact money but the figs were about E150 each and the charge was about E40. Its a percentage thing I believe, not sure though.

Well so far I'm 4 for 4 on not being charged by customs.

It's all down to whether they think you purchased it. Marking it with 'GIFT' as Loontentoys does tells the customs you didn't 'buy' it. So they can't charge you if you didn't pay :wink1:

If it's been released then you won't be charged.

Thanks and good news then.

To my UK brothers and sisters that have bought from HK with EMS shipping. When the items goes from customs who normal delivers it to you door ?. Does it get handed to Royal Mail or another courier and does it come with any special kind of delivery once in the UK ?.

I ask as I've posted before RM parcel delivery in my area is terrible and will give me anther week or so before I see him.

Thats what I dont get, both were marked gift and low value, I think he had the value at about $50. Maybe someone can clear this up for me, customs emailed me asking for my receipt, should I have just said I didnt have one since it was a gift? I got the impression if I couldnt produce a receipt they were just gonna send it back...

I have gotten at least about 9 or 10 Hot Toys from loontenttoys and never got fees once. You have to let Feng know.
The only hot toy I have ever paid fees on was the Guardian Predator from Sideshow and Dutch from Urban Collector. The latter refused to mark items as gift.

If I hadn't been using Feng all this time, I'd be using One Sixth Bruce in a heart beat. :)

Edit: sounds like Irish costumes are far more strict Legion?!

That's really strange. Could just be down to having tight customs.

When you received the item did it look resealed as though it had been opened?

To me that sounds like they are just trying to get some cash out of you.
You really should have said 'I don't have proof of purchase because it's a gift!'

Then if they didn't give you it, complained. They don't like dealing with complaints.
Besides customer is always right - not customs :wink1:

Strangly the very first piece I paid for was the T-1000, which I got from Goodshipped.
All signed as a gift, but that didn´t protect that time.
Hope it get´s better again with MIV and WM.

Dunno really but I've never had problems with any other sellers, its weird.

It was resealed with tape that had 'opened by customs' printed on it :)

The problem with saying its a gift is that I had no way to be sure he hadnt forgotten to mark it as such, plus maybe there was some marking or barcode that let them know it came from a company, or from Ebay.

Well it won't have had anything from Ebay on it, Ebay have nothing to do with it apart from being the catalyst.

My guessing is they saw what was inside which they really shouldn't have unless there was suspicion around it due to something showing up when looking at it.
What figures were they?

Still think they were just trying to scoop some money. When my box comes through I'll examine it see if I can get any clues :idea

Watch mine get pulled up at customs a get charged a bazillion pounds. lol

mine is on the way.
question for anyone in canada that ordered from toys 2
does expedited delivery mean express post?

I believe expedite is 2-3 day service and express is 1day spending on where you are and where it's coming from. Easiest is to just got to www.canadapost.com and create a quote yourself and you will see

looks about right
thanks
odd though, when you go on their checkout is says shipping £13
but the invoice i got sent and paid for was $22
if you select xpress shipping on toys 2 its around $22 if i remember correctly...

I have been shipping stuff via UPS through a thirdparty agent at work and UPS screwed me over every single time! I would manage to make the box dimension and weight just below 1lb but each time they would charge me 2lb charge :(
Same goes for Canadapost or at least they tried. I get a quote online and when I go in and it would actually be more but I did show them the print out and they reduced it.

Even if they saw what was inside though unless they have some nerd employed isnt it likely they'd just think 'toy' and ignore it? :)

It was Blade and T-2 Arnie. But yeah if you see anything or get charged let me know if you think of it! :hi5:
