True. I turn on the LEDs only during pics, and even then, I have only a few of those pics.

Here's one and you can just barely tell it's on:

I see what you mean, but awesome pic. The camera you are using is very good. I have to get one of those DSLR's.

Cheers buddy. I actually understand all that so I'll play around with the camera. Got a new tripod last month so I'll whip it out.

What f-stop, shutter speed and white balance did you use for that photo, just for an example of what to aim for?

:)
Now, keep in mind that your focal length will affect your picture as well. So even if you used the same F-stop and shutter speed, your picture may turn out differently.

For that particular shot:

F-stop = f/5.6
Shutter speed = 1/5
ISO = 100
Focal length = 59mm

Don't be afraid to fool around with the manual controls and keep shooting. Enjoy.

Thanks bro. It really is a very modest DSLR. Nothing like what Canon is offering today.
Best part about Canon, however, they make very good glass. So even with this old XTi body, a new Canon lens can make your pictures come out looking really clean.

Thanks buddy. I'll have a fool around on my next day off. I tend to shoot portrait shots at about 55mm too.

Sure.
Canon Rebel EOS XTi body. This is only a 10-megapixel sensor. Currently running for $500-$700 USD.

Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 USM lens. This isn't a very spectacular glass either, just average. Currently running around $300-$400.

My best advice when buying new gear:
Don't get caught-up with the megapixel wars.
Think about how big you think you will print your pictures. Even a picture printed at 8x12, taken with a 10mp camera, will still look sharp as long as the picture itself is sharp.

Invest in good glass. Determine what most of your subjects will be and the environment you'll be shooting in and you can narrow down the selection of lens to pick from...fast moving vs. stationary; indoors vs. outdoors; close-up vs. far away.

If you'd like to look into more details on different DSLR's and lenses, check out this website: www.dpreview.com.

It's a fun hobby to get into and congrats on the new job. :clap

Thx, buddy on the great info.
I already read about the "MP wars".
:lol
It´s just plain nonsense that with bigger numbers, the quality decreases, right?!

I´ll have a look on that site.
And thx, man: finally.
:hi5:

That's correct 'IF' the size of the sensor among the cameras you're comparing is the same (10mp vs. 16mp vs. 18mp, etc.)

When you get a chance to look at that link a gave you, you'll learn about the CMOS sensor Canon uses.

Made my first HT purchase and picked up the War Machine. I noticed scratching in the paint job and was told that its a common thing?

Also one of the LED's is pretty dull, is this an easy fix?

Kinda pissed that I spent the money on this and the paint is scratched and the LED is really dim .. its hard to see with the hand off and the lights out as well

It's supposed to be like that to show regular wear, even the Mark IV and VI have the silver paint scratches but that weak LED is a problem :x

(damn me if this is an April fools thing)

Nope the scratching wasnt' that "battle damage" I took it back to where i got it and they swapped it out for one with working LED's and no gouging in the paint. Got me the BD Mk III as well :D

Good man. When I put mine one I left the incorrect ones on instead of using a solvent or cleaner to take them off. Didn't want to do anything permanent to the figure. I just put the missing ones on.

They look a bit brighter than the factory ones but a quick fix is rubbing your finger on something written in pencil then rubbing in the stickers a bit. I had my doubts when I did it but it worked perfectly and doesn't rub off if you accidentally grab it by one of the stickers.

Thanks for the hot tip re: the pencil Nick! I got these stickers from Firebird over a week ago and have only just put them on. They are awesome, they sit on the armour beautifully - but the bright white does need to be toned down a bit and your graphite trick was sweet. I also cut the winged graphic that sits on the right bicep. As it goes across a parting line I wanted to apply it in two parts rather than cover the parting line with the sticker. I notice in the movie that the graphic wasn't applied directly over the top of the parting line either. Another thing is I didn't remove the original graphic on the left ribcage and replace it with the screen-accurate one. I wussed out of removing the original artwork, even if it's not screen-accurate. I'm still torn between retaining a mint figure - which I'm never going to sell :cuckoo: - and having a proper faithful representation of the character on my shelf.

My time is stretched at the moment, I'd love to get this newly-stickered up bad boy under the lens and show off Jim's handiwork. He did a great job on the stickers and if he's still got them available I'd encourage WM folks to pick them up :)

I am very glad you are enjoying the decals. Can't wait to see some pics! :hi5:

Finally got around to getting one of these. Originally, I was only going to get the Mk IV.
However, when it came out I couldn't afford it, and had to cancel my PO.
Now I've got this and will also be getting a Mk VI. Funny how things end up sometimes.
I have the same issue that others have reported of the light intensity for the eyes fading over a short period of time.
Also, I had to fiddle with the batteries for the left arm and head for them to work at all.

I already have a set of decals on order from Firebird :D

(Thanks to yodasan for selling this to me)

Thanks, I hate it when people post pics with uninspired poses. No offense to anyone, but I just like a bit of dynamic.
