Got a waitlist conversion for the EX.. But my dilemma is whether to get this (I have over 40 1/6 scale figures, no 1/4's) or the First order Stormtrooper two pack to go with my squad leader (and eventually Kylo). Take the plunge for my first 1/4 or continue my 1/6 collection..

Such a tough one.

Get the Fett.

This piece is a showstopper. People walk into a room and their eyes will go to this, yours included. The Force Awakens stuff looks nice, but I personally wouldn't buy any of it until I've seen the movie.

Tons of display options, excellent tailoring, great sculpting, almost flawless paint. The only legit nit is the width of the T visor and that is so minor I feel like I'm grasping to say something bad. My 11 month old son can't stop looking at him either lol.

The visor being too fat does throw it off somewhat and that's not a nitpick.

Some people here spot stuff like that, some people don't. SOME people then have a rant at the people who do notice what is off and I never understand why.

My two cents: the visor being accurate AF and slim makes Boba look like he is squinting. Sort of like Clint Eastwood, (befitting as parts of the character were modeled on TMWNN), so it should be like that, as the film. The lack of it sort of makes him less intimidating. Slightly.
This guy gets it. Great comparison, it absolutely is like a Eastwood squint.
:clap

Here's a quick shot of the Hot Toys next to the Sideshow one. Yes, yes, lens distortion, cell phone camera, etc. I know. Just wanted to take a quick picture to let you see some of the color differences.

I prefer the bright silver that Sideshow used for weathering. You can see that the Hot Toys version just uses a flat grey paint instead. There is ONE spot on the helmet where they used a little bright silver on the edges of the grey (the dent), but besides that spot, it's only grey everywhere else. No two toned battle damage. I really wish they had used both the grey AND the silver.

However, I like the general green paint on the Hot Toys way more, since it just seems more badass and movie accurate. To be honest, it is probably a few shades darker than seen on screen, but in person it looks great. Obviously more dirty and battle worn than the Sideshow one.

I'm at work with a cell phone camera, but I'm happy to take any close ups of anything. Just let me know what you'd like to see.

Now that you are owning both.. what looks displayed better ? I still have the feeling the HT you can see its kind of dollish compared to the sideshow one, no ?
If you could choose.. which one would you get if you have only 1/4 scale Star Wars premium format statues displayed ?

I am guessing it is a magnet that came loose. At least I think the jet pack is magnetised or am I wrong. The reason why I say a magnet is with one of my Desert Sands Sandtrooper's backpack there is a rattle when i shake it and I figured out it was the magnet based on the backpack not magnetising to the back armor
My jet pack makes a funny noise when I shale it, like a little ball or something in the inside is rolling around...I don't see anything that would suggest a broken piece on the outside....hmmm.
Doesn't seem too big of a deal..something I can live with. Anyone else experiencing a rattle sound effect from the jet pack? Haha

I'm not around the figure at the moment, but is this magnet the only way it connects to the figure? Or does the magnet provide additional support? This is a problem if it's the only way to connect the backpack to him.

Backpack hooks on , the magnets would give it support like you said. I am also going off memory as I am assuming there are magnets on the Fett.

I love him. Going to contact sideshow over the gloves though.

There is a magnet inside to help stabilize it against his back but it's not really necessary to do so.

First off, CONGRATULATIONS!

Second, on the back side of the figure, there were some photos that look like Hot Toys included a full/part jetpack harness. It will be silver (metal). It was made from a scuba tank harness, and I'm real curious whether it was included (it makes no difference to me if they did/didn't, but I'm curious). It looks like this:

Third, if possible, can you remove the ankle spats to see if there's a strap closing the bottom of the suit?

I knew it! Thought I saw it!

The jetpack harness has been included...a part of it anyways...

Awesome thanks. Not that big of a deal for me then. Appreciate the quick feedback on this guys.

I love this piece. SS did a great job all around.

You mean Hot Toys? SideShow didn't make this.

Also due to how I have my cape tucked the magnet in the jetpack isn't doing anything on my guy anyways.

If I could only choose one, I would go with the Hot Toys. It's a great figure. Yes, the colors do not "pop" like the Sideshow one, but the fact that you can pose him in so many different ways is the real selling point for me. It is more accurate overall, too. I've got mine in a Captain Morgan pose at the moment, and base is so much more interesting than the Sideshow one. Can't beat that!

Also, since they are both multi-media products, I'd say neither one appears more "dollish" than the other. If the Hot Toys one appears more dollish, it's really a problem with the pose, not the figure. The Sideshow one is basically the same (jumpsuit, plastic armor pieces, etc.) just on a static figure instead of a poseable one.

Yeah, we've seen this figure look like a figure, and then we've seen this look like it could be a guy in costume. Hope the 1/6 version comes out as nice in that regard.

Well there was a SideShow Boba Fett posted a couple of pages back. I was making sure you weren't referring to that one. Brah.

Had mine delivered today. Everything looks OK, but I noticed a small 2mm square piece of clear plastic in the top foam hollow when I lifted him out. Looks like its the clear lens from the underneath of the range finder. Must have come loose during shipping due to a lack of enough glue. Can someone post a close up of this area to confirm?

Opened up mine tonight. What an impressive figure. Will mess with him more this weekend... Have to wake up very early to have my broken ankle surgically repaired :/

No big flaws I noticed off the bat. I love the ratchet joints and he seems pretty stable without the crotch stand. Will be interesting to see if this staves off my desire to get the PF.

Nowhere really to put him at the moment but he gets the inaugural figure place on the nightstand. Crappy iPhone pic incoming.
