From an entertainment standpoint I thought Dark World and IM3 were just fine...don't understand the hate both those films receive. I also didn't pay to see either, so perhaps that might factor into my enjoyment.

It always shocked me how much people hated DW. It's in the bottom half of the series for sure, and poorly edited (imo), but for me head and shoulders above the first movie. Asgard feels more lived in, like a Viking paradise, instead of just shiny and green-screeny. And it always bothered me how, in the guy's own origin movie, they take away his powers for what feels like the middle 2/3 of the runtime and replace it with a slapstick rom-com. A bit of a 1987 Masters of the Universe situation, in that they show you the place you want to see it set, then whip it away before it gets too zany. At least in DW, the majority of the movie is set in non-Earth 9 Realms settings with a fully powered Thor, instead of "this single dusty New Mexico street."

Also, just so I'm not TOO off-topic, I'm anticipating ordering this figure the moment after Endgame ends, just for double-proof of need.

I really like parts of Dark World. Frigga's funeral is one of the most beautiful moments in all of the MCU. Also the action scenes starting with Kurse's prison escape, continuing through the Dark Elves landing and battle, and ending with Thor, Loki, and Jane's escape from Asgard are fantastic.

Dark World was overall weak. Felt a little bit more like Thor, but more of a bargain bin movie plot and character development.

Infinity War took a similar concept (Thor losing his brother/people), and you felt the loss and anguish Thor goes through the rest of the movie.

In Dark World, the loss of Frieza is noted, but not really felt much. Loki arguably has the only type of growth and lasting emotion from her death. There was no sense of struggle and redemption.

Winter Soldier, Ragnarok, Infinity War, Civil War are all excellent because of the development that takes place. You feel real stakes, and evolutions of the characters.

Dark World has Thor sad for a little bit, then just be Thor again. Lokie dies, but doesnt really die. The villain is forgettable.

But as one of the worst MCU movies, it still is a decent comic book movie.

Dark World was decent. The worst one for me was IM2. Massive hype going in and it was so disappointing. Worst final fight in the whole MCU movies. Lasted 10 seconds.

thinking of pre-ordering this, but have concerns of the suit material...do you guys think it will hold up over time? seems like it's one of those thin pleather material that's usually prone to flaking after a few years

Ok, so standard release price has hit $400 AUS. That’s it for me. I’ll try and finish my Star Wars OT wishlist, but I think I’m done with Hot Toys. Might pick up some Asmus LOTR and QMX Trek here and there if they remain at around $300.

I left Popcultcha due to declining customer service not $$ but yeah that’s the first time I’ve seen a deluxe hit that price at PC ... and that’s the initial discounted price as well!

Yep, then $440 after that. $243 US for the standard at Sideshow is about $345 AU with our crappy exchange rate.

Average price of a new figure to the UK (Including shipping & Import Duty) is approx. £280...which, as of today's exchange rates, is roughly $515 AUD / $365 US. Hobby is getting super 'spensive.
