Good catch Talibane! It definitely looks like they didn't get the handle right. After going back and watching a few scenes from ESB I noticed that the canister for the gas mask looks different as well. Still a fantastic looking figure, and one that I'm excited for, but it would sure be nice to get as close to movie accurate as possible.

It's weird still feeling like this, since Hot Toys has shown what they can do with Star Wars and the expectations for accuracy have always been higher than they were for Sideshow, but I still hold to a Kenner standard. Star Wars toys are toys. If I have to choose between an inaccurate accessory and no accessory, I'll take inaccurate. I'd certainly prefer accurate, but I loved the hell out of my mail-away Survival Kit with no reservations.

Arguments can be made for price scales, etc. but at root, I just want the toy. People who make customs to the best of their ability, when they know no company can be counted on to make renditions beyond their best abilities, can probably attest to this sentiment.

Haha you beat me to it.:hi5:

Yeah, that one's quite a bit off. Not sure where the reference came from on these. Thought maybe they used Chewy's or Han's welders, but Chewy's is pretty different and Han's the same as Leia's.

These are certainly somewhat minor "extras" HT didn't have to include, so it's really no biggie, but it's strange they are pretty noticeably off accuracy-wise.

Though they've certainly made errors and also had scale issues, HT usually seems to go for super-accurate (lightsaber hilts etc.) - inaccuracy like this was what Sideshow would occasionally do; the ol' "it's no more effort or expense to make it accurate, but we'll make inaccurate anyway" thing.

The HT "bulb" of the breather actually seems like an approximate copy of the Sideshow (Han Bespin) breather bulb, which was also fairly inaccurate.

(In these pics you can also clearly compare how brown Leia's hair is (though the lighting is very harsh) versus the black hair that HT loves to do for some reason.)

Wow that is an odd thing about the welder and gas mask. Like Tali says there is really no more expense in making it more screen accurate. Did they even bother looking at a screenshot? Lazy. I think Ton Ton pointed out that a couple greeblies that were painted on the proto appear not to be on the production fig too.

Wow, it's amazing how off those are! It doesn't bother me, really, but I do expect HT stuff to be as accurate as possible.

Personally I think its ********. We are paying top dollars for accuracy. Anything less is pretty much telling HT we don't care if you cut corners here to there!!

I find Hot Toys does this a lot. They take a lot of artistic liberties, which is weird because there is a lot of resource material out there. There are books dedicated to costumes, weapons etc. I find LEGO and Hasbro pay more attention to accuracy than HT.

I think that 90% of the collectors that complain about a figure end up buying it anyways. Just because there’s nothing better in the market. Therefore, why would HT cares so much? What we need is competition. The monopoly of this segment makes our opinions less relevant in that matter.

Have we really turned this thread into a moan about minor accessory discrepancies now?
Like anyone here is actually going to display her with the mask on anyway, people will be too afford it will mark the paint work.

If there is an individual who does plan to display with mask (maybe they have a Mynock display), and is aware of the details and accuracies and notices how inaccurate this mask is……they have 100% a point. Even if it is just one individual. HT is selling as accurate representation and assuming nobody care about the little things. I personally would keep the mask in the box but it does come down to principal!

Maybe this is the reference HT used for the mynock mask. Wrong movie HT!

So how long does it usually take sideshow to get their stock in once it’s released in Hong Kong? 4 weeksish?

I've been looking at this stuff longer than I should lol but the conclusions that I've come to are that the welder handle looks like a droid caller to me. Maybe they had a spare prop and put it to use. And after looking around I found an article on Wookiepedia saying the masks in the ESB scenes are called roamer 6's and the picture shown there is what Hot Toys has based Leia's mask off of. And looking at the image of Finn with the gas mask that echo posted, it appears that he has a cannister similar to how it looked in ESB. So presumably someone pointed Hot Toys to this https://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Roamer-6_breath_mask and that is what they went with. To the point that jme_c made, I'm still super excited for this figure and I think she looks fantastic but again I would love to see this stuff get as close to movie accurate as possible and its a bit of a shame that some fans on a forum can point out the inconsistencies in some of these accessories but the design and art department at Hot Toys doesn't seem to notice them.

Is anyone planning on weathering the outfit? Looks like it could do with being dirtied up a little.

That’s affirmative. The welder is made from a Kobold flash holder just like all of the droid callers.

God i hope HT do Bespin Leia within the yr.One of my fav looks for Leia AND swapping the head with the Hoth Leia would give us Bespin escape.
Come on HT ol' buddy, don't let me down!😉

Ummmm...

Not sure who would ever display this fig with the gas mask on - you'd risk doing something to the paint.

:slap:lol

Everything in CONTEXT.

Wow - great catch.:clap

So HT is now using Wookieepedia as reference, not the movies?:horror

I pointed out a while back that it seemed that HT based its newest blaster (that comes with Leia Hoth) on the Hasbro Nerf version favored by cosplayers (it's a really nice sculpt) - which people paint black and of which there are hundreds of pics online - not the actual prop gun.

:exactly:

Although I don't think anyone is really complaining per se, more just laughing at how inaccurate the accessories that likely nobody is going to pose her with, are.

Probably exactly what HT said actually.

"Sir, it actually looked like this, not like this."

"Who gives a **** nobody's going to be posing her with these things anyway. Just so we can say she included some accessories."
