Hot Toys 1/6 Predator Expanded Universe Figure

I'll go against the flow and say i can't stand it, i really do not like this at all.

The thing i don't like is how her armor design is from AVP. If her armor was more along the line of P1 or P2 i might like the design more.

Kudos to Hot Toys for bringing a figure alot of people like to market and i do like the heavy metal style has got.

With some light customizing, like paint and maybe textures on the body, claws on the hands, you have an actual female predator (if you keep that biomask on). Maybe some talented sculpters out there will give us a female predator head to tack on the body. Better buy TWO just in case.

I don't know anything about the expanded universe, but I'm sure there are some female predators somewhere, eh?

It's NOT Machiko, it's Lex from AvP.

You'll notice she has the scar on her cheek (under her left eye) like Lex. Whereas Machiko had it on her forehead.

Except Lex never hunted with Preds, wore their gear, and is... you know... black.

EDIT: I'd also just like to say, to everyone who doesn't know the subject matter with Machiko... if you're willing to shell out $100+ on a figure of her, surely you can afford to buy the three AVP books that establish her character.


Oh, and Bubba, yes. In the expanded universe there are female preds. Though most people will cry, "it's not canon!!!!"



One more EDIT: Underneath what appears to be the Alien Bust, is that another Predator? It looks like it has some armor on, and an odd head... almost like the dreads are 'up' in the back, like Top Knot from the comics/novels.

I loved the books and graphic novels. I think they're the reason I disliked AVP so much-- it's always seemed like they carried more weight to me. And I'd be in on this--and I don't usually do "expanded universe" characters, but her character was pretty cool.

exactly. that is definitely Machiko because Alexa never wore the armor and don't forget, she is BLACK!

according to the novels, the female predators are much bigger and stronger than the males. I don't think Hot Toys will produce an accurate female pred since most people won't find a huge fat predator chick appealing....

but, seriously, this thing is a waste of plastic to me. they make a character from a mediocre comic, but still no lost clan predators.

Well, prefused, it's not like this thing is up for preorder, there is a LOT of things in that photograph in the Alien/Predator world that we can't see clearly. For all you know, they have made prototypes of the lost hunters, and we just haven't seen pics of them yet.

And for a die hard AvP comic fan, like myself, I'd gladly pay double the price for a Machiko.

Now if this is Lex...keep in mind that they might not be able to use the actress' likeness. Much like they couldn't use the actors' likeness for the Colonial Marines.

HT Apone was also more of a Mocha Chocolate and not a Dark Chocolate like he was in ALIENS. Holla at all the bruthas!

Also, Lex was not a popular character in the grand scheme of the Alien/Predator franchise...so IF IT IS LEX, I give HT 100% credit for turning her into one of the most unique and newly desired figures by making this "Predator Gear" version of her.

Who owns the rights to Machiko anyways? Is it back with 20th Century Fox because they licensed the franchise to Dark Horse? Or do Dark Horse retain her in the context of their AvP universe because they created her?

Of course no one knows for sure, that's why some of us keep saying "if it's Lex". You answered your own question. Who cares who it is? Hot Toys and us collectors win!

But Hot Toys has not mentioned if their AvP license expands into the comic book realm. As far as we know, it's open to characters of the movies only...but it's quite possible they can do their intepretations of the characters as well.
