I think the HT TIE fighter is awesome, and I don't really give a crap if it's not precisely in 1/6.

I feel like they will definitely make an x-wing though (if not just for shows) - you can't really have a TIE fighter without an X-wing, can you? It would be like having Marty without Doc, Tonto without the Lone Ranger, BR Batman without Penguin/Catwoman, etc. Definitely a no brainer!

And HT has done that in all instances :rotfl

Yeah, I thought he was joking, but couldn't tell.

Here is the original post: Hot Toys Falcon Cockpit - Page 3

They are testing the waters with every product shown, as most other companies. Look at EFX or Gentle Giant, these 2 companies both showed many products that never seen the light of day yet, and maybe never will. If there is interest and a way to make them collector affordable, I'm sure HT will make both of them.

One of them is already certain thanks.

Say you're wrong and eat humble pie haha.

I'll come with tie fighter when it gets announced too. ;)

Though for some reason my wallet isn't laughing. But my wife us saying go for it!!

All I know is I want a nickel for every "I told you so" that gets typed once this gets confirmed one way or the other.

Ahoy!

I've been going through my ComicCon pics and thought I'd share some detail pics of the Tie.
What a great display piece! Whether or not it goes to production, it's an awe inspiring piece to behold.

Cheers,
Ahab

I don't visit the 1/6 section much but have to question the age of some of the guys here. It really sounds like I'm in high school.

I don't think one person has said they don't want this made. Not one. All of us would be in awe if something this large (regardless of exact scale) was produced.

Personally, if they are planning to make the various versions of the tie, I hope they go with something half this size. Heck, I would even be happy with them being the same scale as my code 3 stuff. It was a shame they never got a chance to do this, the at-at or landspeeder.

This is MEGA impressive. I was convinced that this was just built as a convention piece (or maybe Howard's one off) and the main thing behind that thinking was the fact that there was no TBD on the plaque. That got shot down a few pages ago so I really don't know what to think now. It's guess it's not probable but not impossible.

I think its safe to say that until HT officially announces these Star Wars vehicles for sale there's going to be a lot of tension on these forums.

Whatever happens, the TIE Fighter, Millennium Falcon Cockpit and upcoming full 1/6 Falcon have definitely brought some interesting perspectives to light on the notion of HT doing 1/6 SW vehicles. Some people love the idea of them for purchase, some people love the idea of them strictly for cons, and some hate the idea of them altogether.

I personally (obviously) want these to go into production because I feel HT has so much more potential than just 1/6 figures, specially with a line of timeless vehicles like SW. I remember receiving the '89 Batmobile. I had a few friends over who wanted to check it out so the four of us opened it up in my living room together and were just floored with the detail. That unboxing ended with all of us agreeing HT should really do SW vehicles next. I'll buy pretty much any SW vehicle HT decide to sell and I know lots of other people that would too.

I can't agree with anyone who doesn't want these made. I just don't see the logic. If you don't want a 1/6 X-Wing in your living room then don't buy it. Its that simple. If you don't want to spend thousands of dollars on a giant toy - then don't.

I think you are misunderstand most people, myself included, point. We are not saying we don't WANT it. For me want has zero to do with it. I'd buy it in a second. It's what we think the REALITY of it is. I've not seen anyone say DONT but a lot of WONT. That's a rather large distinction you seem to be missing.

I don't know what you do, or how long you have collected or what experience you have. But this stuff isn't new. Every convention has thousands of display pieces that never get produced. Hot toys, hasbro, neca, Mattel...all of them and every other manufacture on earth do it. From SEMA and E3 to the Detroit auto show and SDCC...there's so much stuff made and shown that never gets a wide release. Just becuase a company has the capabilities to make a product does not mean it has the obligation, or desire, or resources, or permission or whatever else to do so. Hot toys made a full 1/1 hulkbuster, a 1/6 bat, a professor x, Prometheus figures, 1/1 ultron, 1:6 stark wine cellar...all not produced. And lots more.

Even if a tie fighter gets made, it doesn't mean things like a 1/6 Falcon are coming. A 25ft toy space ship that is the cost of a Range Rover is just not going to happen. When the previous most expensive item a company has produced is 800 bucks and 2ft tall and is considered huge...something that's 30 times as large is pretty out there.

It's not just about end customers but distributors and retailers. Hot toys does not sell direct except at toy hunters and secret base. The way it works if a retailer wanted to sell the item they would be required to commit to buying X number of them from hot toys (or a distributor). That's a large risk. On top of space issues. There's QC things to think about.

A very impressive piece! but if I am going to buy something that massive, huge, I prefer a TIE Advanced. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have this TIE fighter as well.

I will see you all once this becomes a "Hot Toys 1/12 TIE Fighter" board.

As much as i'd love to see pics of this thing inside someone's tiny apartment, there's is absolutely no way in hell HT will produce these.

Yes, just like the 1/6 scale the Bat. never make it to production.

But when I look at the construction of the TIE Fighter, it could break down in to pieces. easier to pack in the box. For example the main cockpit, 2 arms, and the wing panels could also break down in to 2 - 6 pieces per side. Unlike the complex shape of the Bat.

This suggests otherwise.

1/12 would be a huge disappointment and I can't see HT being confident in that scale with the $700 1/12 Bat currently collecting dust on SSC's site.

That settles it guys. A company printed "Sixth Scale Collectable" on a piece of cardboard. We'll get this for sure.
