So that the original retains it's collectibility. Re-releases are for low end, retail stuff, as are repaints. These are supposedly high end collectibles, so lets keep it that way. If Hot Toys is going to do that, they should at least give the owners that bought the original (some that ponied up quite a bit of cash) a bone by letting it have an exclusive feature not prominent on the re-release.

I agree. Problem is, HTs seems to do just the opposite. They aim to make the re-release better than the original!!! :huh

Seems they are successful sometimes, Iron Man Mark III BD, and other times just marginally so, Bruce Wayne Bats.

Ah then I agree. However yeah I have a feeling they'd more likely add features rather than subtract them. :gah:

That is true, unfortunately. The re-released versions seem to always be better and have more features. Mark II Iron Man and OC Batman sure seem to show that. The new Mark I Iron Man will probably be the same way.

It can be a bit daunting for us guys who have been collecting these for awhile, as we end up already owning an inferior product compared to the new release and have to pony up even more cash if we want the newer and better version.

Well theres just no way I could buy another Tumbler, even Bane's camo version. Annoying thing is its not like I could sell my current one (except possibly at a loss) to fund a new version because everyone would be after the new one. Unless I sold my old one right now but I aint gonna chance that. Plus the TDKR vehicles announcement in itself is probably gonna dissuade people from buying Batpods and Tumblers at the moment.

I don't like to chance it either as I'm not much of a gambler. I thought Hot Toys was probably going to make a new T-800 Endoskeleton and thought about selling my battle damaged version, but I didn't want to risk not having an Endoskeleton in my collection. At this point, I'm glad I kept him.

I am keeping my old OC Batman and getting the new Batman Begins one as well, though. It doesn't seem worth selling the old one at this point.

Be nice if they replicated the Tumbler interior set in 1/6 and left it at that.

The problem is always the same... HT release schedule is SOOOO slow, so even if they will re-release the Black Tumbler WHEN they will do? We still have to see pictures of the dx 02 joker, and it was announced when? 4 months ago? And still no clues about Batmobile 1989 release date.
The first releases of the TDKR brand will be batman and the others main charactares, the new batman in 1/4.
Then we'll have the new tumbler, "batwing" and batpod.
So before middle/end of 2013 we we'll not see the "rerelease" of the Tumbler. And the price of this beast will probably be higher then the first release (500-600 at least)...
Better to search a good dela now, than to wait all this time IMHO ^_^

If you are really planning on selling it sometime, I am interested :)! Dont care if there will be new one thats better, or if yours is not NIB, there no way for me to get my hands on one from a company, or what to call it, any way :( No one ships that big and valuable packages over seas it seems..

People don't catch onto news that quick, or they just don't care. I sold my extra Joker DX01 for $500 (I got about $430 out of it) just a month ago.

If it's 700$ for Batmobile, you have some idea how expensive Tumbler might be

Unfortunately, HT doesn't seem to give a ____ about that. Otherwise, as Ben says, they wouldn't have produced purely improved upgrades to the OC Bats and Mark II Iron Man.

The Japanese retail price for HT is always higher compared to the rest of the world.

A mark V retails like 23-25K Yen there, while its $175ish for most of the asian countries here.

It's good to know that its $700 for the Batmobile there though, at least we can already assumed that it'll be lower than that.

Begins Batman isnt technically a mass produced remake. Since its a limited edition, Toy fair exclusive. Not an open order release like the Mark II AU.

But yeah, I dont think at this point they really care bout the after market price on this. They'll just produce whatever sells, and will keep remaking until collectors no longer buys them.:panic:

That is technically true (though I suspect the production run is on the order of 4,000 for the new Begins Bats), but the argument also applies to the DX Joker, DX Batman (leaky suit and immovable joints notwithstanding), BD Mark III Iron Man, "OC" Batman itself, and presumably the new Mark I. There are probably others I am not thinking about, and a handful of others still that straddle the line between update and new figure (Classic Predator, 2-in-1 Superman).

They even supposedly had a 2nd run of the T2 T-800, though it isn't clear if that was due to their staggering releases due to unforeseen QC issues or upping edition size to meet demand. I'm guessing this happened with other figures as well (I think the Mark IV also had a 2nd batch that was received with no real noticeable differences from the first batch).

Yeah, I've heard of those 2nd runs. War Machine also had an unofficial 2nd run.

Mark IV is probably on the 4th run, if you considered the Gantry re releases:lol

I think you are correct according to the Hot Toys Japan site Iron Monger is 48000 yen which translates in to $ 621. And most us sellers are selling it for 430 to 450, quite a difference. I mean this is all rumor but considering the tumbler was for $ 400, 100 to 150 price increase is to be expected due to inflation.

off course they could charge what the want but they would be pricing themselves out of the market.

That'd be fair if the Burton Batmobile and the Tumbler were on equal ground, which they are not. I'm not lucky enough to own a Tumbler but from what I've seen in photos it seems like a very complex item with hundreds of individual parts, no? All those little parts would have had to be individually sculpted, molded and then assembled. By comparison, we can tell that the Burton Batmobile is comprised almost entirely of one block of unpainted black plastic, with the only additional pieces being the cone at the front, the wheels, the cockpit, the tail and headlights, the exhaust and the dashboard (which itself is all one piece). The only pieces that look to need hand-painting are the exhaust and the dashboard.

The Burton Batmobile will likely be the cheapest to assemble piece Hot Toys has ever created, but they'll price it as their most expensive item ever.
