Not sure what you are asking Riko, or which item your specifically talking about. Many places in Asia have a lower pre-order price, then the price goes up. They may be referring to when the price goes up, but without knowing which site has this 'pre-order by' date policy, these dates can't be verified.

Hot Toys just bundles the release date into which quarter they expect, but delays due to approval and quality control can vary. So those that are trying to order 90 days out from release, to have some cover, are grasping at an unknown.

I don't think that "preorder deadline" applies to anything other than that particular store, and even that is questionable. If they still have stock available, it doesn't make much sense that they would cut off preorders at some arbitrary date. I would say the best thing to do would be to order from a place that doesn't make you pay up front. It's just too far in the future to be doing that in my opinion. However, I don't know what options exist for people in Europe and elsewhere. I get the impression that Toys2 has very expensive shipping for you guys, so they're probably not an option.

but than I was wondering what to think about this...https://www.xltoysforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4949

is that deadline serious or just to make you pre-order really soon?

I shop from that store. They have physical stores and I believe they are the main distributor/sellers for Hot Toys in my country.

The market for collectibles here in this country isn't as big as other countries so I guess the specialty shops use the pre-order dateline to gauge customer response as to how many units to bring in.

After all, why bring in excess units when they can't sell and take up shelf/warehouse space?

Yes, it is expensive for international buyers to order from America and Canada. It's expensive to order from Asia as well, and it is worrying to order and pay upfront, so far in advance, but those are the options we have.

Once you deal with a few of these Asian sellers you gain trust in dealing with them, and realise that is the way business is done over there. It's a different story in America where pre-orders can be paid for when the item ships. For us that means there can be a price shift depending on the strength of the currency at the time of shipping. Paying upfront means you know how much you pay, in your own currency. Yes, should they go out of business, you have to wonder if you'll get your money back, but most of these sellers have been around for a long time and want to keep their good reputation.

I don't know who sets these arbitrary dates, sometimes it's the seller, who gets an allotment from Hot Toys, and once their allotment sells, the price goes up. It may even be Hot Toys themselves, who want a return of funds for the promise of cheaper prices via pre-order. This allows them to finance the production of these items and not have to wait till it ships, sits on shelves until sold, until they get their return.

ow I see, it is impossible to order something 90 days before its release, since nobody knows exactly when the precise release date is (talkin about tumbler + bat-pod)

so yeah, I guess so, changes are big I must order something on ebay if I don't wanna spent over 700 dollars here in europe..

I have maildes toys2 first about the payment method, and if I receive and answer about that, I will ask his shipping fees to europe
but I guess on both the answer will be negative for me

okay,
what would you advice me to do:
pre-order as soon as possible?
or,
like I would want to do, wait until october to pré-order...and hope the items are not all sold by then....

Hi Riko, I don't know your circumstances, but if I had the money I would order soon. If you don't have the money and you have to save, well then you just have to take your chances.

Places like T2 you can put a huge number in the shopping cart to see how many they have left, but you have to keep a close eye on them to see how fast they are selling, then you don't know if they will get another allotment or not.

Most places will take Paypal. You need to have a Paypal account, and transfer money from your debit/credit card to Paypal to pay for your transaction. By transferring the money in such a way, you get the maximum amount of protection.

I would pay as soon as possible. You can watch and wait, but I am fairly sure they will be gone by October. That's the way it is with Hot Toys. You don't know the edition size and they don't have a low quantity alert bar either. Their big properties sell out fast, and then the prices go higher again on ebay.

Check this thread out, and you can see how T2's stock has changed just in a short time. https://sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36086&page=14

by the way, anyone got a very large picture-version of this
4TDK_Batmobile.jpg

cause I wanna use it as desktop display :)

2 things certain:
payment would certainly be paypal + will be buying the items from ebay (unless toys2 has paypal)

and I will have financial boost in mid july...
and again in mid august...
so I was thinking to go into action in mid october like planned IF the stocks are okay...
If I see that by end july the pods run out, I must and can buy a pod
if the tumblers run out end august, the same thing
but if both run out already end july, than I will have to choose :google because I cannot buy both end july...
so I hope things will not run out so very fast...or will they? it is so damn hard to predict this all :duh :)

Not necessarily. They get allotments from Hot Toys. How many? Who knows. I would say it would depend upon the statistics Hot Toys has. They would know which distributors sell the bulk of their items, and would divide the edition size by that percentage.

How long an item remains for sale, is dependant upon said items popularity. I don't know all the answers, I just see what I want, and know I'll need the money up front. I have bought stuff from about four sellers that seem to have a good reputation, and I buy from the one that is the cheapest. Most use 'Buy it Now', while some use the auction method or a combination of both, so sometimes I'll wait and see if I can get one cheaper through an auction. That happens less and less I've found, mainly because more and more people know about them, so most times I use BIN.

As far as your desktop, that pic is fine. I saved it and gave it a try. It works fine.

Well if you wont have the money till mid July, then buy the Pod. I reckon more people will buy the Pod because the Tumbler takes up so much space and is more expensive, so is likely to be around longer.

okay, that seems a logical way of thinking indeed.
I'll Pré-order the bat-pod in july...

BUT, I wonder where I should pré-order, from wich asian ebay seller.
I have experience with Studio Sunny and heard good things from my neighbouring contry Holland, he even gift-pack the package so we do not have problems with customs...but when comparing studio sunny with some other sellers, they are a little bit more expensive...

what are the experiences with
- goodshippedstore
- kidult toy shop
- ThE FuN Of CoLLeCtiNg
- abc-express
- Sweet Castle of Toys (from china and just new since 2006)

and most important, do they all gift-wrap there packages with declared low value to avoid custom tax trouble? (have mailed them all, but none have yet answered)

I'm waiting delivery of Hot Toys Powerloader from Sweet Castle Toys - bought from him before with no problems.
Got the Tumbler and Ironman on pre-ordere from Goodshipped - again, no problems.
Cleaner Wolf Predator and Hot Toys Joker pre-orderered with abc-express...never used them before, but Creech says they're good so thats fine by me.
Studio Sunny...had a problem in the past with them, so i will stay away out of principal.
Bottom line is, they are all pretty much the same...

Has Mista305 give anyone a price quote for the Tumbler yet?

He's working on it Evil, still waiting to hear from his HK Guys... I think he's hoping to have a price by Monday.

Speaking of which, Toys2 is down to 42 now.
